@@jordanweber6289 No, I leave all my proof and uncirculated strikes that come in OGP capsules as they are. I only put the bullion ASE from tubes in Airtites to better protect them and to make them more uniform with the other coins.

In October 2014 I spent $1,756.95 on the Mint's web site. I got one of the Gold Kennedys, and 5 each of this 4-coin silver set and the two coin uncirculated set. A few weeks after delivery, my workplace went belly up and I was out a job. I only got to keep one each of the silver set and the uncirc set. I'm sure I'll never get another Gold Kennedy, they sell for $1500-2000 now. I enjoyed it for a little while.
@Coin_Scavenger2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that, very unfortunate. The gold Kennedys are nice looking coins but I don't have any either, I prefer the look of silver verses gold plus its much less expensive...lol.

@@Coin_Scavenger If there's anything good to be said about a forced sell-off, it's that if you have time to be selective, what remains of your collection is the cream of the crop. I mean, what a lot of people call junk silver (hate that term) is really neat stuff, if you keep the best of the crop. I was on target to amass my weight in silver before my job loss. I had to sell the majority of that, but had the luxury to do it selectively. What remains from 140 pounds (63 kg) is what I couldn't bear to part with, the cream of the cream. I'd been collecting coins, mainly not silver, for 30 years before that. Just got into "stacking" a few years before the forced sell-off. Glad that I got to cherry pick before I sold. I went through every single coin, bar, and round of the 140 pounds, and kept the good stuff.
@Coin_Scavenger2 жыл бұрын
@@Vector_Ze It's great that you found some silver lining in your loss. Sounds like you still have some very cool items in your collection. Yeap, always hated to hear "junk silver" as well. One man's "junk" is another''s "cream of the crop". That's the best part of coin collecting, there is something for everyone no matter how much you can afford. Heck many collectors don't spend anything, tons of "coin roll hunters, metal detectorists, street finders, and coin star hunters" out there have put together very interesting collections. Hopefully one day you will be able to build your collection back to it's former glory, good luck and happy holidays.

The price really depends on the coin. Most proofs now sell for $60 to $70, uncirculated for $30-$40, and bullion for $30-$35. However, some key dates and special strikes are in the hundreds to thousands.

@@Coin_Scavenger massive help thank you That's what I love about the royal mint most of the commemoratives went into circulation Lots won't become worth much more than face value until god forbid the queen dies and we get a whole new set But some very rare ones like the Kew gardens 50p Celebrating the royal botanical gardens 400k ish printed Worth between £50-100 We have the £2 commemorative collections Olympics not much different than your own But yet again in circulation Have lots for events and famous people much like you lot do over the pond Where I can see a difference is that we also have what you could term as gimmick coins For example 200,000 ISH 10P's For each letter of the alphabet Or the 50p collection of Beatrix potter's famous characters from her book For example Peter rabbit Jemima puddle duck Ect ect This is doing wonders for getting the young interested in coin collecting Don't forget a currencys worth is only equal to the belief and interest on said currency That is why I was happy to see so many over there But it's a bit of a downer to realise you can't just happen upon one in your change I love getting a nice fresh bag of 50ps and going through them finding the commemoratives

@Coin_Scavenger3 жыл бұрын
Guess you're referring to the 2011-S Burished ASE. That coin was released about the time I made this video so without rewatching it, I can't be sure I actually owned it when the video was created. It's 6 years old so I've been considering putting together another one sometime soon. Of course the new video would cover all Type 1 ASEs and the beginning of the Type 2 run.

Fun fact from 1986 -1992 the coins without a mint mark were made at San Francisco. You'll be surprised how many people do not know that.
@Coin_Scavenger3 жыл бұрын
Sorry to tell you but you are incorrect on that statement. The coins from 1986-1992 without mintmarks were minted at the Philadelphia Mint. The first coin to be minted at the San Francisco Mint without a mintmark is the 2011 bullion example. This is well documented in most numismatic literature covering the ASE program.

You got some high quality sets of them. I had gotten the 04 and 05 from a local coin shop and the 05's already look dull - possibly from a reaction to the cardboard in the set. I plan to give my 04 and 05 away (I got a nice 04 clad proof and a good 05 mint set so all I need to do is get a nice 04 mint set and 05 proof set). For the 06 - both proof and mint set.
