It´s not a replica or copy, it´s a style and Steinhart has just taken some elements from that watch and made it its own, kind of. I will never buy an "R" in my lifetime, I could, but I rather use my money on stocks or even some more Steinhart watches.

Gray is bad black is good. Steinhart just loooouves gray. But maybe they're finally getting the idea: We all want the deepest black.

Nice review, dude ;) I have one as well. With a different dial, bet also cal 3017. You said you haven't seen many in this good of a condition. It is actually in a pretty good condition. But the one I have is 5x fresher. I've seen many in terrible condition. One thing though is that for my, I think, the seconds hand has been changed. The new ones are a complete parody though haha

I’m pretty sure the first watch in space was a Russian Pobeda that was strapped to a dog.

Overall a beautiful watch. I don't object to its minimal water resistance or to its rather shoddy strap. (The strap can be replaced easily.) Some have complained about its size, but the size for me is just fine. Orient might have left out the mention of water resistance on the dial, and might have included the logo on the crown. I would have preferred it, but these are minor issues. What disappoints me slightly, however, is the degree of accuracy. I guess a gain of 10 seconds per day is not too bad, but it could be better. My 2nd bambino gains about 5 seconds daily, which I consider to be good performance. I should add, too, that my small golden Seiko solar watch is elegant, classy, and quite accurate, while being in the same price range as the bambino you've featured. So it's possible for a watch to be beautiful, accurate, of high quality, and under 200 dollars. But then again, everybody knows that mechanical watches in general are not as accurate as other types, so I accept these limitations for now.

I have one with the tachymeter and telemeter scale, strela in cyrillic, and same as you the scales in the seconds and minute dials aren’t centered, it’s not restored, the crystal is a bit marked.. i’m wondering if i’ll try to change it somehow.

I agree with you completely - unbeatable quality for the price. True anybody can buy a watch for 300 euros but some people wouldn't recognize quality, craftsmanship, quality and style even if it was placed under their nose - instead they know the price of everything but the value of nothing.

Interesting, Vladimir Komorov appears to be wearing a watch on each wrist at 8:49 or perhaps he's wearing some type of identity bracelet on his right wrist?

The 6 o'clock marker writing actually says China, Tianjin watch factory. Zhongguo Tainjin Shoubiao chang 中国天津手表厂. I love that watch, I just ordered one, looking forward to receiving it. PS I've seen other displays where instead of that it says 'reissue version of China first aviation stopwatch' 中國航空第一隻码錶複刻版, which is actually shown on your picture of the clear case back. I've also seen other dials that say "made in China' 中国制造. Also, to clarify, the red writing on the display case back is the same on the dial at 6 o'clock: Tianjin watch factory, 天津手表厂. Is this watch a good buy? I dont want to buy another chinese watch only to find that I got one from a bad batch (i bought a starking dress watch and it’s not good)

This watch reminds me of my first collector mistake. I have this exact watch in my box and have only worn it a couple of times. Why? I purchased it because of it's high recommendation. Upon receiving it I quickly realized it does nothing for me. For example, I have a Vostok that gets way more wrist time.....I will never buy another watch on the recomme dating of others if I feel nothing g when I first see it. A ROOKIE MISTAKE IT WAS. T orient sun and moon is way nicer for a little money more.....

With all due respect but I have a Ray2, a Kamasu and a skx007j. The skx is so much more comfortable and after the Rolex sub mariner is the most iconic do we. It has the X factor that my Orients will never have. Just my opinion....

The trouble with the 42mm is that the hands are the same length as the smaller version. It looks a bit odd to me.
