I disagree, probing the dark meat for temp will totally dry out the white meat!!

How will probing the dark meat dry out the white meat?
@KenS126714 күн бұрын
Blade tenderizers are the standard way to tenderize steaks for all sorts of very common beef preparations. Swiss steaks, chicken fried steaks etc. are all made using such. Amateurs who do not understand food safety should never talk about it.

I'm so going to try this on one of my turkeys next weekend. Question: I didn't catch what type of pellets you were using? I'm thinking to use either applewood or cherry. Pecan is nice too but I have a lot of applewood bags on me right now. Just wondering what you used.

Noooooooooooooooo! It needs to be at the level of the food! Near the bottom edge of the grill lids so it's reading the temperature more or less at the food grate level. It could 100 degrees hotter at the top of the grill than at food level. So, a thermometer at the top might read, ay, 400 degrees but at food level it could be 300, 320, etc. and then you wonder why your drumsticks are rubbery and not cooked.

Does filet mignon need to be tenderized? I'm more interested in getting a tender, but cheap, piece of meat. Some folks claim the round steak has fuller flavor, but fries/BBQs into shoe leather. Wonder if pineapple will provide the solution.
@DelmarvaBackyardАй бұрын
Not really but I used it because I thought that was the steak I'm most familiar with. It has little to no fat so I figured I'd be able to pull the differences out a little easier. Thanks for the feedback.

N som steaks of same kind can also have different tenderness..with nothing added

What do you think of closing the lid versus leaving it open?
@DelmarvaBackyardАй бұрын
It all depends on the fire and the pit your using. I love a good char but if it goes too far it gets bitter. If its a gas grill I would rather keep the lid down for maximum radiant temperature. Thanks for watching.

Your son is awesome. I’m six years late to this party but I’d venture to say you raised a gentleman. Next, mallets are for pounding round steak for chicken fried steak. Third, I was betting the pineapple steak would win. Fourth, I know you and your son enjoyed the steak feast after the video. A love of steak is something I have in common with my son so that resonates with me. Great video.
@DelmarvaBackyardАй бұрын
So glad you watched and commented. Thank you for the compliment. I agree with you on the mallets. The enzymes are very strong in pineapple. It was a really fun experiment. Ty

Welcome to the new home! Just an fyi for you, $4./# is is twice what I have to pay for whole jumbo chicken wings here But, I purchase them in a 40# box that are fresh, never frozen. That said I live in Iowa where lots of chickens are raised. I will have to try your cherry Coke method! Sounds de-lish!
@DelmarvaBackyardАй бұрын
I live in Delaware and we are known for raising chickens as well but apparently not the price. Do you buy them direct from the manufacturers or grocery store? Sometimes the manufacturers here do wholesale but its not all that often.
@dennyo7798Ай бұрын
@@DelmarvaBackyard I purchase through the grocers suppliers. I still have to pay the retail price but @ a cost plus price. Good for them, good for me.

Well I appreciate you going through the taste test efforts. I can get my steaks fresh as well as aged because I can buy the cow (or part of a cow). Obviously a good part of said cow will be frozen and then vacuum sealed. Now here's the kicker, speaking as a forester and really I'm not hugging trees all day I'm doing math. While you were in fact working to discern a difference and I appreciate this you nonetheless had a 50/50 shot of guessing that right. Scientifically you need a larger sampling and you certainly could throw your wife in for the test. Actually make a few of those old-fashions and throw a picnic. Thanks for the video my son-in-law needs to see it, you look straight out of Minnesota. Cheers
