BenQ is extremely color accurate, while Epson is just marketing heap done with oversaturation.

I don't like BenQ projectors because of their short life span of cheap lamps, they do that on purpose to make money more often. They can make better lamps but they won't do that. They want you to continue to buy lamps very often to make them profits. I think that is a very crooked way to do a customers that way, that is why I will not support BenQ.

Hi there, is this one as loud as the mentioned ht3550? Would ht5500 be a huge upgrade from ht3550? Is it dimmer?
@ScottsTechandStuff
@ScottsTechandStuff 10 ай бұрын
The biggest difference between the HT5550 and HT3550, IMO, are the Dynamic Iris implementation, HDR handling, and Color. The 5550 doesn't blow the HT3550 out of the water on any of those, but they are marginally better. They way I look at the HT5550 vs HT3550 is it is about 10-15% better performance/quality for about 30-40% increase in price. The price to value is still in favor of HT3550 but for HT snobs, the performance gains to price paid for those gains starts to really ramp up once you go above the $2,000-$2,500 mark.

@@ScottsTechandStuff everything you said I am getting but for whatever reason I am still really torn. I am considering also epson tw9400 (I don’t like the fact that it doesn’t switch automatically sdr/hdr) and tw7100(does it switch auto?) now I have xgimi horizon pro and looking for an upgrade. I had the benq w2700 for testing and it was really loud for me(it’s 1m above my head but PQ was gorgeous and blacks were…good like 8/10). The most thing I am struggling with Xgimi is black lvl (I have no shadow details) and color-especially reds, it is 4K (pix shifting 4x) so I am worried if it will bother me with epson(pix shift 2x only).
@ScottsTechandStuff
@ScottsTechandStuff 10 ай бұрын
@@keepitshema I think most projectors are going to be pretty similar noise-wise at 1m above your head. The tw9400 is a beast... its really big. The sharpness isn't as good as BenQ, but it does blacks better, is brighter, and has better input lag. I ended up keeping the Tw9400 as my main projector for those reason but the BenQs are still fantastic.

weird to find a video with both of my last projectors(was YT suggested - didnt search for it). Ive had this Benq for 3 weeks until i saw my friends Epson 5040ub and the blacks were a lot better. Returned Benq and got 5050ub and there is no comparison imho. Maybe , like you mentioned, colors are not super accurate but they are a lot punchier and will put a smile on your face. Blacks are inky while on Benq they were more grayish. didnt really notice any detail difference - both were sharp enough althouth not to the level of my old Sony 285 or my neighbours JVC NX7 - both native 4k

Hey that's pretty cool! Crazy that the algorithm is still serving this one up. They are both great projectors and there is a lot going for both of them. I ended up keeping the Epson long term primarily for the input lag and brightness benefits.

This projector gets the job done pretty well. kzbin.infoUgkxS9P8zTOcmQg-hH0QeUi3dspOLyYgQ6dH Bear in mind it's a mini projector but all things considered the picture quality is pretty good. The attached photo is of the projector projecting onto my white closet doors. I still have not messed with the settings but I can't wait for our first family movie night on a larger scale. If you have issues with volume not working with your firestick, go into volume settings and you will find your solution there.

Thanks for the great video. I loved both brands for home theater setting up. Therefore, I am the movie fan, I chose the Epson UB level, which gave me to have feelings that are sitting in the cinema. I had Epson 5020UB over 5 years and loved it each time I watched an action movie. I just upgraded to 5050UB but don't have time to set it up yet ( I still watch movies on 5020UB 😊)

Just picked up a 5050ub 🤣 I actually went with it because my sources are mostly not going to be in hdr or 4k. I use my projector in my living room for daily sports streaming from roku which is usually 720p on roku apps (I know gasp) the 5050ub is amazing at rendering lower quality stuff. Of course, if I had an htpc with full 4k content and a cable box pushing 4k regularly I would probably go with the BenQ. I'll probably upgrade in 2-3 years so we'll see what around $3k then! Remember folks it's easy to get caught up in specs, but it really comes down to the quality of the source! Like you don't need the most expensive speakers if you're watching 2.0 audio on compressed KZbin videos 😂

In your opinion, do you notice a huge difference In 1080P to 4K, Especially when dealing with projectors. I currently have an epson 1080P EX9210. It does great but I'm considering upgrading to 4K. What do you think? Thank you in advance :)

I feel like I’m in the twilight zone watching this. How can he in good faith say the BenQ is comparable to the Epson. I feel the Epson is the only choice. It was really funny when he brought up text to compare and when he panned over to the Epson he got closer to the screen which would clearly show more pixels the closer you get to it. Do yourself a favor, if you’re deciding between an Epson and a price comparable projector, just get the Epson. Trust me.

Wow man great review. Definitely not amateur in any way. Question though: when you turn off and on the pixel shifting in other words when you go from 1080 to 4K is there a difference that you can see with your naked eye that would make a 4K projector Worth it? Or could we get any other projector for less money with better blacks and color that maybe is not 4k?
@ScottsTechandStuff
@ScottsTechandStuff 2 жыл бұрын
I think it is definitely noticeable. Especially with the right 4k content! In terms of what picture attributes are going to make the biggest difference for overall picture quality; contrast, black levels, and color have the biggest impact on "picture quality". To answer you question I think a real world comparison would be helpful... a great 1080p black level projector is the Epson 5040UB. It has better blacks and contrast than the HT3550.... but which one would I choose? The HT3550 hands down. The 4K makes a big difference and the HDR is just sometime a 1080p projector can't do (there are 1080p HDR proejctors out there but they are budget projectors).

It doesn't have a white slice on the color wheel. Other DLP projectors use a white slice to ramp up brightness at the cost of color accuracy. Example of this is TK850. you lose about 3-5% in color accuracy to gain 20-30% brightness. Both look great.

@@ScottsTechandStuff I ended up buying xgimi horizon pro, absolutely no regrets, picture is excellent, great colour accuracy, black are not bad, extremely enjoyable and has lots of built in features. two out of three of my benq's died prematurely, TH 585 was garbage, the TH685 was half decent but picture did not pop like the 585 and it died in 10 month light use white spotting appearing on screen, TK850 beautiful colours sharp picture lasted 21 days!, faulty hdmi and ghosting on pictures struggling to recognise 4k content, I'll never have another benq product they are cheaply manufactured.
