This is beautiful. I’ve never done a model ship or any model from wood. This is just on a level of its own. Did you hand carve each piece or is this a kit???

I am working on building this ship myself, and am simultaneously awed and intimidated by it. And excited to start this adventure. That was one spectacular build, Bill. I congratulate you and have bookmarked this video to keep me focused and inspired. Very, very nice work. I know this was completed a long time ago, but can you tell me what paint colors you used. The hull looks like it has been varnished. Did you paint/varnish each plank before putting it on the hull? Is there somewhere I could watch or read about your process? Thanks so much.

That is really a work of art sir. USS Constitution nicknamed "old Ironside." Built in the 1790's???. She is the oldest commissioned Frigate warship still active in the USN.

I got to tour the real Constitution when in Boston on business in 1998. I read where USS Constitution cost $300,000 to build - in 1790s dollars 😮

This was my second model ship - first large one with all the rigging. After 3 more it was no longer challenging - so I lost interest. I found a kit made by Bluejacket Ship Crafters that looks like it might present a challenge, Schooner America. It is a true plank-on-frame construction, just like the real ship builders. No laser cut plywood bulkheads. I'll need to purchase a small power scrolling saw to produce all the pieces - but at least I'll be building something again.

Beautiful build but I don't want to be nagetive ------ BUT---- Your stern windows are at or below the floor level WINDOWS NEED TO BE AT OR SLIGHTLY ABOVE YOUR GUN PORTS ROWS
