It’s still the same game modes. There isn’t a campaign or actual missions. Air quake is lame

It’s like ace combat in the sense that it is arcade style gameplay. There isn’t a mission plan or a realistic flight model. Even in sim battles you’re still confined to the typical unrealistic air quake game modes war thunder has to offer. When you compare war thunder sim battles to IL2 you can clearly see its arcade nature shine through. That’s what makes it similar to ace combat to me. The goals of the game remain arcade and not sim. I absolutely agree with you that the comeback of this genre is amazing. I’m really looking forward to aces of thunder, which is a VR only spinoff of war thunder, with hopefully better game modes

@@cerberus0351 it's not arcade. In some ways it even models missile performance and damage better than DCS. When I see Ace Combat and their 99 missiles, it's not even close to WT For top tier, the maps could be larger or they could limit the number of players but they play great at BR 10 and below.

You should be able to. I was just looking at this the other day and it appears you can change the grip position to change hands. The index version looks like the only version you can’t do that with.

I can only think of VTOL and DCS myself. Multi crew is a ton of fun. There is a game in development that’s all about flying a b17 bomber and that’s going to be multi crew and VR.

Grab the flight collective and pull the trigger then one of the buttons will be auto hover. I think it’s beneficial to understand the hover even if you’ll auto hover frequently. Thanks for the comment ❤️

VTOL VR is a GREAT game for it's apparent age. I was just introduced to it by Cerberus who has an open LOBBY as "FridayNightFlights0351"...EVERYONE is welcome...regardless of your skill level.... BUT if you want quick tips...The "MasterClass" Vids give GREAT pointers and the Discord channel in the description...EVERYONE there will give you pointers, fly with you. or give suggestions!...Jump in EVEN if its to say "Hello"!

I’d say that x plane 12 felt better than Aerofly did with vr controllers. So that’s something to keep in mind

@@cerberus0351 that’s not the first I’ve heard in the x plane vs aerofly argument lately so now I’m gonna actually take some time to look into x plane. They’re both pretty close in price 🤷‍♂️

CAN't disagree....for the only exception of seeing what the WWI and WWII era aircraft might have to offer....but the helicopter "looked" decent...at lesst to have a little fun in....but the AH-94 is such as great time ....as bad as I am at it...lol

VTOL is great for sure but I was really surprised to learn that X Plane and Aerofly allowed the use of VR controllers for flying

There is already a small mod community present. Start on the steam workshop. Tons of user made content there. Then you can look into the vtol mod loader and you can play with all the mods available! It’s not as big as ARMA but it does exist!

@@cerberus0351 oh ya I seen them. It's pretty awesome. I just hope it can grow to keep giving life to the game if the developers move on to a new project or get to a point where they say they're done and happy with the game. I expect it to be more like the DCS or Microsoft Flight Sim mod scene in size if it does grow.

Sort of. If you use the pod you end up in vtols version of a ccrp drop which gives you a nice release queue which can be used from a really high altitude if you want to!

@@cerberus0351 awesome does it really serve a purpose in the game though? I've only done one or two AG practice runs before watching this to get a better grasp on it. With no shooting back though lol. Which is fine cause I was trying to figure out how to release my bomb and when it clicked to hold trigger cause I could hear the doors and then seen the doors open on the SMS I was clicking around to figure out my button to do so 😂 then accidently dived into my previously dropped Mk82. Now I'm here to definitely refine my skill and increase knowledge.

You should fly with us! VTOL doesn’t have long running servers but I have a discord full of vtol players and every Friday I host a multiplayer event for the community. It’s new pilot and old pilot welcome, laid back and not brevity code heavy or milsim. Just fun flight stuff. All the info is in the discord!

100% ace combat isn’t a sim. War thunder has simulation qualities but it’s an underplayed part of the game and quite frankly the game modes in war thunder aren’t sim at all. These are the games a lot of people land on though and they end up missing out on the amazing side of simulation for one reason or another.

DCS is my favorite sim outside of VR. I don’t like it very much in VR because of the performance tradeoffs, and the fact that I have a super sweet DCS setup for non-vr

It is a big underground. Once we see more AAA titles and once content creation is easier then the games may become better made. But until the headsets are comfortable enough to wear for a 10 hour binge the mainstream gamer isn’t close to being in VR

I agree with almost all of this! VTOL's implementation of the HOTAS is amazing. You really don't miss a physical one at all. However, flat sims tend to offer more gameplay than VTOL. There are bigger missions, better multiplayer since it's client to server and not p2p, more aircraft to choose from etc. VTOL is the absolute best vr flight sim out there, but it's lacking in content, which is 100% excusable since the development team is one person and not an entire AAA studio. For the amount of developers it has, it is doing the right amount of things. But I do hope we get the ability to have client/server and more than 16 people in multiplayer.

Into the Radius is great, but after the first couple hours it just felt like a rinse and repeat sort of game and all the fear and immersion wore off for me. VTOL is capable of convincing me hour after hour, hundreds of them at this point, that I really am in that aircraft. Nothing comes close in my opinion. Everything else requires that you touch a mouse or keyboard at some point and all of that is just a stark reminder that you're wearing a monitor. VTOL keeps you in the headset 100% of the time, and the immersion never breaks!
