What time of year was this trip? Looked drier than your previous one on the JdF. Could you just imagine being on the trail when the recent storm came through?

This was in July! Was definitely drier this time around. It would be terrible in that storm! It’s probably soooo muddy now, with some extra downed trees I’d imagine :/

Some incredible scenery! I bet your friend has a new appreciation for your hiking abilities, too. That is seasoned vs newbie, but she did great. I hope she loved doing it as much as you loved sharing it.

This is so true on a thru hike 😂😂 the effort to get out my tent in the night to pee is far harder than hiking up mountains all day. Fact 🤣

Ran into a hiker/traveler when I was a kid. Step dad had a habit of being people he found on the road (promise nothing bad ever happened) and this man from North Carolina had gotten to us in mid lower Utah because he wanted to walk to his kids. He was loaded though just said he was bored! That guy had the coolest stories.

Looks fun to me. Our normal life doesn't offer much. TV, social media. Professional athletes who just show up, get big paychecks, and after all that training, can't take their team to first place. Celebrities who think they are better than you. Politicians you can't trust to balance a budget. Overpriced everything. Hiking the hexatrek looks pretty good.

@@LaurenRoerickHowdy. Sorry, I think my sense of humor got the better of me. Everything is okay with your account! As for the pee problem, there are three solutions: 1. you can ignore it and get a yellow sleeping bag instead (most people already have a yellow sleeping pad) and hope everything goes well. Or 2. you can do like 9Lives (@kellyhays23) and use a wide-necked nalgene water bottle. Just make sure your drinking water bottles are a different shape! Or 3. get up, go pee. Happy Hiking!

@ okay hear me out. The last time I went backpacking in January it was so cold but I had a few too many beers and had to pee and it couldn’t wait. I started to crawl out of my tent and unzip my rain fly when I looked down and saw my poop shovel and instead dug a good sized hole and did some kinda kneeling,squat thing and went right there no problem.🤷🏾♂️

Great tip. I have washed mine in the washing machine with special detergent and it worked pretty good as well. And used the tennisball in the dryer! 😉 Have a great day! Kaat

That’s great! Enlightened equipments’ website says if I wash mine in the washing machine it voids the warranty, so I hand wash only!
