Bottle caps are usually made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) that is a plastic that consists of long chains of hydrocarbons atoms with minimal branching. The body of the bottle is typically made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which does not decompose as effectively under pyrolysis conditions and can produce undesirable by-products because it has a rigid aromatic ring structure and strong ester bonds, which are more stable and require higher temperatures to break down.

When placed in hot water, the solution turns blue, while when immersed in cold water, it returns to a pink color. The reaction that occurs when a solution of cobalt chloride is mixed with water and hydrochloric acid and then heated involves a chemical equilibrium between two forms of the cobalt complex. In aqueous solution, cobalt chloride mainly exists in the form of the hexahydrate complex [Co(H₂O)₆]²⁺, which is pink in color. This complex can interact with chloride ions to form another complex, [CoCl₄]²⁻, which is blue. This equilibrium is influenced by temperature: • At high temperatures (hot water): The equilibrium shifts towards the formation of the [CoCl₄]²⁻ complex, which is blue. This happens because the formation of [CoCl₄]²⁻ is an endothermic reaction, so heat favors the formation of the blue complex. • At low temperatures (cold water): The equilibrium shifts back towards the hydrated form [Co(H₂O)₆]²⁺, which is pink. Obviously, as I mentioned in the video, my product won’t be pure, but it can still be said that I’ve obtained gasoline. I don’t have enough money to buy a gas chromatograph to analyze the components of my product as was done in the article, but there are grounds to say that I’ve obtained gasoline, surely not of the same quality as what you get at the pump, but it’s still gasoline. If you can tell me where I went wrong, I’d be happy to hear it.

@@TheGreenChemist99 without any proper analysis you cant just say its gasoline by burning it you already proved it had different charecteristics. And the article says it produced hydrocarbons in the gasoline range. That also doesnt mske it gasoline as a product

It's a simple butane gas flame. I think you see it as invisible because there's a lot of light.
