I found this interesting to watch , it is an art ! ❤️ We had a shoe repair shop in our neighborhood for over 50 years ! It closed and is greatly missed in our community ! I truly would be a golden opportunity for someone who wants to get into that field ! Much like a Tailor shop we all appreciate that has been in our community for so long !

This channel is insanely good! Just stumbled over it, didn't even know about it, even though I'm an avid watcher of the other channels. Really hope to see more on here!

Do you recommend or can you to change the color of the Alden Indy to get a less reddish brown and a more brown color. Beautiful modification by the way.

Two questions. What is the additional cost to the $650 price? Has Alden ever responded to your initial video or this one?

hey for future reference, after deep cleaning, do we use the lighter cleaner immediately after when its wet, or do we wait until it is dry? or damp?

Found this EXTREMELY helpful! Thank you so much for sharing a real way to get the Suede Birks clean! I have been terrified to clean mine! 😂 Would you recommend the same process if they got wet from grass in the yard? Mine are great except that after I walked through the yard, the toe box got wet but when they dried, they still looked watermarked/stained. There is a clear line separating the normal color and darker color of the suede.

Maybe if the cosplay fan girl dorks stopped buying them , Alden would be motivated to improve the quality. But why on earth would they if these pos $250 boots fetch for $700? If I were Alden I wouldn’t go shit. That’s a crazy profit margin. Abd irs not stopping as long at there’s comic cons.

hey thank you for the tut! I got light suede birkenstock literally two weeks ago and I just spilled almost half of a large latte on it and I am so angry. I don't have any of the equipment yet but I orderered some brush and a cleaner. lightly washed them with mild water and soap. I will see how they look like tomorrow. Eek

54 months to " make" the shoes?. No way. Shoes aren't made until all the materials are on hand. Then, it takes a maximum of a couple of days.

*Hmm probably should have let them dry first after washing them. And then condition them. Maybe the results would be slightly different. You did a good job though. You tried your best! I don't think they're wearable anymore, but they will make a good display piece!*

*That, and using shoe trees as they dry. It would be good to keep the shoe trees in them while they're used as a display piece. That way at least it keeps the material from sinking in itself.*

This is a copy of a comment I made on another of your videos: I'm going to try to show you and others what you miss in your sort of reductive analysis of Alden. First I'm in my 70s and have worn a lot of business shoes, casual shoes and boots throughout my life. Had my first pair of work boots when I was 8 yrs old... and many pairs since. A boot is a system. Each part has a function in context with the rest in order to achieve the goals of the boot. The Indy boot is an orthopedic boot built on a patented orthopedic last, designed to keep your foot in a healthy anatomical position. It has a wide toe box giving space for bunions or other deformities, and it narrows down at the instep and heel to produce a tall, long and firm heel cup. Other parts of the orthopedic system include the cork midsole, the well designed metal shank, and the Thomas heel. Cork, which seems to be missing from many of your favored boots, is buoyant, elastic, and water resistant. It is also very durable. A cork footbed molds around your foot to give orthopedic support and comfort. It's one of the reasons Indy boots "break in" in a matter of days or a couple of weeks. And stay comfortable over the life of the boot. And let me reiterate, cork is very rugged and does not break down easily. The Indy boot metal shank is made of tempered steel, properly contoured and triple ribbed for strength. Way to many boot makers use a thick piece of leather or wood for the shank. Simply cannot compete with a properly designed metal shank for arch support and long lasting comfort. The Thomas heel (the curved front of the heel) adds rear and midfoot medial support. Good for any foot, but especially for people with excessively pronated feet. This is why people love their Indy boots. Quick to break in, very supportive regardless of foot issues, and the orthopedic properties force you to walk correctly, making it possible to work all day in them very comfortably. And they are NOT overly heavy. Heavy boots are not good for your ankles, legs and lower back. That's why it's important for any boot maker to achieve the goals of the boot, at the least possible weight. I have arthritis now, and no longer wear any shoes other than my two pair of Indy boots. They reduce significantly the pain in my feet, legs and back. Since I live in Portland, no one cares when I wear them to the Symphony. Alden Indy Boots are better engineered than any other boot. Period.

*Way too expensive! But I do love the look of these boots! I love suede! I wish they had been cheaper. In another video he said they will do more releases throughout the year. It's a real shame they aren't more affordable. I know it's because of higher end materials. But still, many wish they were more affordable lol 😅🤣🤣🤣! I don't have $650 laying around you know?*

I like the look of these but would never trade eyes for speed hooks. I wear 877s every day and can say that speed hooks won't tighten like eyes will. They pull the leather at an odd angle and can't tighten the same as eyes.
