I'll be honest, I really wanted to hate these. But, I kinda love them. I'd never do this to a pair of $2k boots. But, I'd definitely buy a pair of Roper boots like this.

I think anyone who has the ability to make something theirs even modifying another person's work that you've bought i.e. boots it's the greatest feeling ever, I personally like changing up the jewelry I have with other pieces every now and then and always feel like it's something I did and it's unique to me
@Mikhos Жыл бұрын
They got dressed up and you absolutely nailed the construction. Not sure how long the elastic is going to keep those snug on you but it's very clean. I think stylistically they were cooler beforehand.
@Progtologyst Жыл бұрын
I'm not a fan of the buckles on engineer boots, though the profile is pleasant. So the modifications are an improvement to me. Others love the heritage and are completely comfortable wearing them with the buckles. And that is completely fine as well. The best boots are those that are regularly worn and enjoyed.
@brunonjezic6208 Жыл бұрын
They look cool! But im confused how do they fit better with no instep strap than with on the skinny feet and legs? I didn't got in to laceles boots because they seem like nightmare for someone with skinny feet like me if not custom made. And with custom made lace up boits i had problems so I don't dare going there
@CreativeUsernameHere-r1k Жыл бұрын
I personaly love buckles, but only cus I can always add one more hole onto them, and because grandpa gave me his old yugoslav m55 boots so I got used to those as a lad.

Sure you can do what you want with them, and honestly they turned out nice. But how did getting rid of the strap over the top of your foot help any with heel slipping or too much room in the ankle? I’d think it would just make it worse since nothing is holding your foot in place. Still, not too bad a final product, I’ll be curious what your final review is.
@racerich888 Жыл бұрын
Yes, what was what I was wondering, looks aside (and I like the after but prefer the before) how does this make them more wearable? Any chance of an update on whether these mods have made them more wearable or is this just a cosmetic update?

They turned out even more beautiful! It looks like a great style to showcase the leather, sort of like with a Chelsea. I'm looking forward to the wear review. :)
@mcbeties7338 Жыл бұрын
I'd love these as a Chelsea boot. The profile of the vamp and toe box would lend their shape quite well to such a boot. Viberg's current model of Chelsea boots are too dressy and slim for my liking.
@likearc Жыл бұрын
Do they even fit better? Looks like they would fit the same.
@virtualfrog2000 Жыл бұрын
They would fit worse for walking due to the lack of the lower strap. They would fit nicer under pants, though, and perhaps nicer around the calf.

I love the looks, but it seems like this hasn't done anything to help with the L.A.D. issue? Won't the ankle fit be even looser now? [Maybe I misunderstand what was done.]

More power to you. I’ve only messed with a $600 Wesco by painting them and re-soled them. Although I’ve once added $900 upgrades to a pair of Buco horsehide engineer boots. I did a re-last and a re-sole.

This reminds me of how scared people get to modify a gun for fear they'll ruin it. If done properly, nothing gets ruined, and being they are yours, you have every right to do as you see fit. Personally, I would have tried out a similar boot first to try the style and then went all in but I like the personalized aspect. You of all people have the skills to do this kind of work. I dig them

I understand the dividers for marking out the stitch holes. Not sure why you didn't just use a sharp, diamond awl to punch the holes. Seems like the device you used was for connecting a welt to gemming. A loop stitch jerk needle? Eventually, doing these vids, you will need a post, walking foot sewing machine.

What do you all do if you order a pair of boots that don't quite fit. I got 3 pair from a company, 2 are ok, I would prefer the half size bigger, but aren't worth complaining about as is. The third is definitely tight. I bought said pair for short trips, running errands, raining days (they're "waterproof") etc. They don't really hurt my feet for how long I would wear them, but I definitely feel the tightness. I would very much love that I could wear them all day ... but I'm curious what the community would do. Just suffer I should have sized up, or cut my loss and try and sell

Definitely took the some of the style out, but yiu felt tgey were a bit much, so mission accomplished. Still a pair of boots in a beautiful keather. The elastic seemed an interesting addition. Not the move I'd make. If I fork out a lot of money on something flashy, I grin and bear it. If I really wanted it, I acclimatize myself to it. I have yet to regret it. If I never did so, I'd never change, and if that were so, I'd never do anything interesting.

tbh, those companies are so renown, that they shoudl be shit talked. fanboyism is not a good thing, and tbh if you're paying 2000, why the hell aren't they trying to pamper the customer with taking measurements of your feet and ankles in the first place? At a certain point should something be boutique, it should just be handmade for the wearer themselves.

Well... I wouldn't call them engineer boots because you took off the straps, and replaced it with elastic. Then again, I wouldn't have called it an engineer boot to begin with because the toe wasn't squared off enough to qualify. So under the circumstances I'd say you succeeded in making an improvement that suits you without ruining them.
