Howlett clearly offside on that chase. Freeze it at 33.04! Shows the value of a good place-kicker. Spencer was just awful.

Three cheers to the referee -- (Try ruling at 27.58 min)-- Not only a 'double movement' -- but as the referee emphasised -- a third movement!

I was at one of these tests at Eden Park.Im an ABs fan but i saw the english loose forward trio put on a masterful display that day. England are hard to beat now.

It was a brutal game. The tackling was unbelievable. England was a Wall. Johnny was a miracle. And Spencer ran like a rabbit but kicked like a girl. It could have gone either way, But it was England's day.

Good to hear the NZ fans paying silent respect to the kicker....as always.

45:10 as a South African brings me so much PTSD from this time. I have forgotten how dirty the New Zealand teams were from the mid 90s till the mid 2000s. The Springboks of the era gets pointed a lot but this lot was rough, think that is how the Southern hemisphere rolled back then. This AB team would have 3 red cards by today's standards 😅 Ali Williams would be suspended for 18 months after that head stomp!

Gee, no NZ commentators' bias at all!! 😂

New Zealand player stamps on England player's head - penalty to New Zealand. New Zealand commentators complain about the referee. Makes sense.

Out fought and out tackled and out muscled all over the pitch, England on a different level. Got to play to your strengths and we did. Swing low.

I just watched it 20 years later really because of the period when England had 6 in the scrum and didn’t suffer. I just remember the quote (from Johnson?) that it goes to prove that the back row don’t do any pushing. Memorable. I didn’t think the officials had a bad game at all. They missed things which the TV ref would now pick up on but that was the game then. I do think the NZ commentators outfit to have been hauled up for bringing the game into disrepute. They were so poor that it was laughable. Perhaps because it was an Aussie ref?

after watching this I am never going to complain about Jonathan Davies or Matt Dawson commentary every again.

This referee was a total disaster to the game of rugby. Universally hated amongst the players. He’s petty and self important always wants to be the centre of attention. The game never flows and his whistle all the time just ruined the game. He was never a test referee. Sadly he lasted too long in the game.

NZ pretty dirty here. Racking heads at 3 points in game. There's no place for that in rugby. As a neutral, Wilkinson was a class act.

In the last few minutes the All Blacks were stamping on players - bias in refereeing?

One of the down-sides of micing up the ref is that some of them think they are the star of the show ...

Interesting that an AB player stamps on the England players head IN FRONT OF THE REFEREE znd he toatally ignores it. He was jyst as "unbiased" as the commentators. Fortunately for the game he had to retire.

Dallaglio's work rate was always incredible. I never saw him have a bad game. But did the referee not turn up so they gave the job to the peanut seller?
@lonestar670918 күн бұрын
I hate to say it, but New Zealand were borderline cheating here. Howlett was a mile offside. Dirty stamping, all over the show. And we had two men sinbinned, whilst the AB's got away with murder, proving the ref was in their pocket. And the commentary? Read half the comments here. Even the Aussies here, are calling these biased Kiwi's out. And with all that, they still couldn't beat this England team. There's no doubt.... England 2003. Don't bet against them, against any team in history.
