A month ago, I was struggling to make my light bills, and I opened emergency commissions. The details were that I only accepted Paypal payments, I was only drawing in a specific style, and I wasn't going to bend on that. One guy stood out to me because he did something similar with a banking app. He also offered a ludicrous ammount of money for a art style I wasn't offering in those emergency commissions. It just seemed a little too good to be true, so I told him that I wasn't going to use the banking app he was recommending, likewise I wasn't going to do a realistic portrait because I didn't have the time or spoons for something that time consuming. He proceeded to ghost me after I put my foot down, which just confirmed to me that it was a scam.

I'd love to know the secret to cooking an elaborate meal for 4 and having no prep mess or cleanup, not even a speck of food dropped on the perfect white countertop. It's so overproduced, probably took the better part of a day to film that 30 second sequence. I pride myself on a spotless, clean kitchen, as a longtime bachelor I cook everyday and I enjoy it. I spend at least 15-20 minutes on both prepping and cleaning afterwards, by the looks of her house they hire a cleaning service, or rather her subscribers do. They probably bought her the car and pay for all the trips to fast food joints too. If she weren't an influencer she'd be the one asking if the customer wants fries with their order or working for a cleaning service.

Kids being forced into influencer videos makes me think they're going to get coddled, sheltered, spoiled, doted on like faux-royalty and grow up completely detached from reality. If they go to public school they'll most likely get bullied relentlessly and if they get homeschooled it's pretty much over for them, their whole lives will be spent thinking they're the center of the universe.

My favorite thing to do is let them send the check, pretend u cashed it, then when they ask for some back i pretend to be the scammer now and refuse😂 or block then after the check is forst sent like I'm just taking the money and running. Let them waste their time

I am against AI but the false accusations are getting out of hand. People work very hard to get these pieces done so to reduce those efforts to "oh it's done with AI" is disrespectful asf.

I can vouch that switching to digital after being traditional for years is extremely difficult, and it is in fact like learning how to draw all over again. So I do find it odd that they were able to render and draw like that for a short period of time, here I am still learning how to render digitally due to it being a lot more difficult than traditional (from my experience).

If it looks too perfect its AI, if it doesnt, its AI. Let´s admit half the times you can´t know if its AI, and we artists can´t just save screen recordings of every piece because thats a lot of pointless GB. If you don´t trust your artist anymore don´t hire them anymore, if you think you have been cheated, go to a lawyer.

The best part of these scams for me, and this has happened three times, is the scammer sending me cartoony furry art I made for my friend (because it's my most interacted with post) and asking for hyperrealistic art of their son and his dog (it's always their son and his dog, one time it was a lizard instead)

idk if anyone is going to see this but i have a super dope trick i use for doing commissions. i often make mistakes both with my outlining and coloring. if i make a mistake with the shading due to photoshops undo limit, i create files for each key stage. this goes as sketch - outline - flat color - shading. as all of these are in seperate files unique to each other, this allows me to go into the previous stage, copy and paste the section that has the mistake, and redo it withought needing to redraw the part entirely. on the model im working on at the moment, i had a situation where with the hair, id colored in the shading but i hadnt cleaned it up properly as it was hidden and i tend to have a very bad memory. as i had the flat color file saved seperately to my photoshop cloud, this allowed me to copy and paste the hair i had muddled up on, and trace over my previous shading. this time making sure to clean up the hair properly so when rigging, it wouldnt show. this is super helpful for me as it means if the person whos commissoned me wants a part of the model changed or reshaded, all i have to do is copy and paste over the previous part and re do it withought having to re draw it. idk if anyone else does this but i find that super helpful ngl

i had an instagram art-account like before this ai-shit started, once while i never had done anything with paypal i got a comm to draw an animal, i tought i would be smart: "hey i charge 25€ for a drawing" they "send" me 300 (they insisted to pay 30 even after i literally said 10 times only 25)and sendet me a picture of oh they sendet u 300 and they need that back , I CAN BE HAPPY THAT MY SISTER KNEW PAYPAL, she said, nah that cant happen like that, and the email needs to get to me in german since i did not put english as language, also the email looked sus for her, since the real paypal has no weird numbers. Iam so friggn glad for my sister fr. Some time later some other random account tried the same method. after that i never did comms, i mean never had comms and my two first "customers" beeing scammers hurt so much i decided to just stop and never try again...

i think there is too much leniency being given to them due to their age. it's no excuse. 16 is definitely old enough to know better, and using age and mental issues as an excuse for scamming tons of people out of money might give others the impression that it's okay to do too, or make the victims feel like they're being dramatic for wanting the work they paid for back / refunded. i think them being young & having ADHD is an explanation, but they shouldn't be given a pass for it. i can understand that sometimes it could be hard to face confrontation from others in DMs, but ghosting tons of people just asking for updates is inexcusable. i don't think age should be such a big factor when criticizing them. i've been doing commissions since i was 13, while also having horrific ADHD (poor memory, terrible time management skills, etc), and i have NEVER ghosted a client. even when i sold my art for cheap and had tons of commissions to complete, i have been quick to respond and quick for updates. i have always disclosed if i'd be busy and would be slow when working, or if i had tons of other clients. i get that not everyone is the same, but age and ADHD should never be used as an excuse to not communicate.

I like your pointing out of AI mistakes, but sometimes you go a little bit too ham on the art and point out things that are not really mistakes but little things sometimes artist add for no reason or because of their artstyle, like the little strands of hair you pointed out at 13:30, which i personally love doing in my art... I dont know, this is a great video, but those small little things are a bit invalidating sometimes and feel bad

I do graphic designing, social marketing IRL for customers (mostly small companies) and i also sell POD products on my Vtuber merch store. Even usually easier POD designs can be sometimes very customized for an individual customer will take time and energy but my pricing is always simple. One flat fee use it commercially or not. In graphic designing you often use premade assets be it from the customer, from stock or some assets included to the software you use. That means designs include assets that are made by others than you, Of course you have often edited those and done some artistic placement magicka but in the end part if not every part of it is already paid for commercial use be it yourself or your customers (This of course depends on the TOS/License) And thus i find separated commercial fees often off putting if its in graphic designing its even more "Nope" When Vtuber art is considered i do find it somewhat more ok but still annoying and misleading when those fees often are shown in the final form where you are already typing / downloading some reference stuff for the artist before pushing that checkout button.

OMG THIS..... THIS is why i rarely, RARELY do commissions for people for real money. i recognize this pattern in myself >u> idk if me and this artist have the same problem(s), it could be a scam but i know i never deliberately scammed ppl and i Know This Nonsense. The cycle of taking work with all the excitement, getting disinterested because it's work, putting it off and putting it off, getting the dopamine hit from other stuff again and again and again, all the while putting off the work, making up stories because of the *shame*........ i refuse to welch and screw people over like that. ESPECIALLY with real money on the line. game tokens and website currency is one thing (when youre not having to pay real $ for it) but real money is another level entirely. im lucky that i recognized this pattern in myself when i was still in school w/my homework, even homework that shouldve been easy. whenever i took commissions i only ever opened up 4 slots max and only accepted designs i felt a connection with, cus that ensured the dopamine hit to get it done asap. sadly not everyone has that ability to self-analyze quq especially if i had a huge queue like that, i can see myself crumbling. it'd take my ADHD ass YEARS to get through that line up. i hope this artist grows and learns, cus this really isnt fair to people >< keep that to yourself, or at least be honest and refund the money when it gets to be too much....

kinda sucks that unless ur a perfect professional artist u get accused for things like ur telling me things like perspective and awkward hand placement, two of the most notoriously difficult things to grasp as an artist, out u as an ai user ?? ridiculous.. i never line anything myself nor do i ever clean up the sketch lol i was trained as a painter so even digitally i paint over it when rendering bc i like to enjoy drawing and lineart is soooo grueling to me.. i think people forget the humanity and reasons etc behind why someone creates the way they do, and if it looks a certain way they just deny it of that humanity.. not very fair (edit thats like general and not necessarily about this situation.. i gather that zuyu is not super pro and i agree they should scan for mistakes but if theyre novice they may not recognise them as mistakes? i can also acknowledge this was probably really overwhelming from their end.. all parties in this situation are understood though i can imagine this is probably very terrifying to deal with as an artist.. i think providing a sketch wouldve been the best way but some people dont keep those.. i wish there was an easier way to tell)

The funniest thing that’s happened to me since starting commissions is when someone tried to PayPal scam me, but they accidentally sent me a message that was meant for later in the process, where they’d already ‘sent the money’ and were very angry that whoever they were messaging wasn’t sending it back. I already knew it was a scam, but watching them panic and delete the message when I called it out was very funny.

51 seconds in, and thats a pretty classic 'gfx' scam account setup. Strange emoji spam, emphasis on both Illustration and being a 'Character Designer,' the "Vartist" username tag, and both the pfp and banner being identical, and also what appears to be a character concept image (also, that gold font in the banner is used by just about every gfx scam account I've seen)
