I heard (and watched) Prince play Noon Rendezvous as a birthday gift for Sheila back in 1986-87. It was just Prince and his piano, no other instruments or voices, and slowed waaay down. I didn't even recognize it at first. THE most beautiful song I'd ever heard, before or since. Prince recorded EVERYTHING he did. I have tried and tried to find that particular recording, sadly to no avail.

Brilliant, i must say. I read somewhere musicians such as Stevie Wonder would practice songs fast because it was then easier for musicians to remember their parts when played at the correct speed. I'm referring to Temptation of course which I've only heard the album version from 1985, so this version was completely new for me. But i have to say, Prince tried and did everything when it came to music styles, especially and depending on the background of the backing musicians at the time. He would feed them and feed off of them and in doing so he was able to get things out of them they didn't realize existed.
