I have a 9 and have been toying with the idea of upgrading, but I see no reason to based on this comparison - viewed on my iPhone 13 Pro. My reason for wanting to upgrade is when I ride my bike in the shadow of the trees on a sunny day, the patches of sunlight are overexposed. I thought the 12’s HDR might resolve that, but from what I’ve seen in other reviews, the HDR doesn’t do much. Anyone disagree?

What does Santiago Oaks have to do with Santa Ana? It’s in Orange bordering Villa Park, complete misinformation. 👎
@ronsanderson997 күн бұрын
Sounds like you know more about this than me. Is Villa Park a city or just a suburb of Santa Ana? On Google Maps it looks like Santa Ana is the closest city to Santiago Oaks. I’m not from the LA area so the dozens of cities within the Metro area mistifies me. The key thing is for out-of-towers who know nothing of LA, to know generally where these trails are. Regardless of this mistake, wouldn’t you say the trails are pretty great…or not? And if not, please advise of a better place to ride. Thanks for watching!
@duyle5577 күн бұрын
@@ronsanderson99 Villa Park is a city. Orange is a city. Santa Ana is a city. All are in Orange County, south of LA. Santiago Oaks is located in Orange city, Orange County. I know that sounds confusing, it’s like NY city in NY state. For outsiders, consider telling them to just head east from Disneyland. I kid you not, just take the street in front of Disney and it will eventually lead you there and everyone knows where Disneyland is 😂 Oaks-we just call it Oaks here-is a great mtb park with varying terrains from green to black and it’s trail is connected to other parks as well such as Irvine regional park… which isn’t located in the city of Irvine just south but still in Orange… hmmm… maybe it’s us, we just can’t name things properly. But Oaks is one gem in OC, the other is Laguna. For a proper bike park around here, there is Santa’s Village in Big Bear just 25 miles east from Oaks so you could give that a try. Regardless, keep riding, cheers.

Hey Ron great channel. So I live <10 min from 50year. So my favorite route is lower 50 to the upper 50 clim to either Gem and down to the Chutes, short climb back up the staying with the Chutes Trail then once you get to the top staying as far left as you can takes you back to to the top. Or, lower to upper 50, to “Around the Mountain,” which is a bit of a hike in the beginning, but then is climbable after that to Tank, Rattlesnake for a bit, to Cowboy Slickrock, back up to Gem, and then back down to that bottom of The Chutes. Way more flow and still tech enough to keep you interested. Would stay away from the extension of 50 and I think Middle Gate kind of blows as well. Ever make it back here feel free to drop me a line.

Hi Ron, I have a question for you that is mountain biking riding and travel related. I know from watching many of your videos that you travel to the states to do a lot of your riding. My wife and I are heading down to Bend in a few weeks. I was just wondering what you use for travel insurance that is mountain biking specific. I have checked with a number of the regular insurance companies and they don't relly cover people for activities that they deem extreme sports like mountain biking. This could also be a good topic for your best destinations series. Let me know if you can. Thanks.
@ronsanderson9920 күн бұрын
I just use regular travel insurance…BCAA in my case. I had a fall about 6 years ago in Eugene, OR that required stitches which the insurance covered. Bend is a great place for flowy, cross country trails!

Thanks for the info. Perhaps I am over thinking the whole medical insurance thing. I have been reading a lot of fine print and the coverage could be iffy. Thanks again.

It’s best to ride Squamish in July or August. It is the warmest and most dry time of year. But Squamish is also just above sea level and can be ridden most of the year if you don’t mind the rain and wet trails. Do you have an idea of what trails you want to ride?

Good question…if you have Trailforks, you can see the parking lot at the Sugarloaf/Laguna Mountains trailhead. Then ask Trailforks/Google Maps for directions. Otherwise, starting from Yuma, head east on Highway 95. Turn north at Avenue 7 East/Laguna Dam Road. Drive 4 miles north. Turn east at E Country 5th Street. Drive 1 mile, crossing over the canal. Turn north across the canal and drive about 500 feet to a small dirt parking lot with the trailhead sign. Note: the area and local roads are under development and re-routing. When I was there in March I had to take a number of minor detours.
