Devo blew my mind in 1978 with their Saturday Night Live performance.

Point taken. Understood. 2 different ideas never make a solid product. Someone has 2 B in tuned. Great Luck. 😛 🤘 ✌ Going riding now! 😎

5:10 Vatos has actually talked about how his exwife was very disapproving of his job, so he left the group for about 40 days to deal with that. 8:45 The actual title of "Elementary Physics" is "Need You Tonight", and this song is actually a Good For Your Soul demo, rather than Nothing To Fear. 15:35 Both "Not My Slave" and "New Generation" were originally recording for Dead Man's Party and rerecorded for BOI-NGO. 17:30 Oingo Boingo actually briefly broke up in 1992. 18:35 The 1994 album is technically untitled, with only the band name "Boingo" being printed on it.

Ok I enjoy the solidarity of not knowing how to pronounce "BOI-NGO"... I usually just spell it out lmao Good video though! I'm such a massive fan of Oingo Boingo, so I'm always so happy to see them getting the love they deserve. Also, it's funny you mention Japan there at the end, bc Oingo Boingo was more popular in Japan than majority of the US, even writing music for a Japanese pop artist named Mayo Shono (listen to "Oh My Papa" and tell me what you hear)

Working in the Coal Mine is an excellent cover of the Lee Dorsey hit. And the Devo cover gets radio play plus both versions have wonderful videos to boot.

By today's effect standards, that isn't many effects for a rock band guitarist. And please don't forget that Bob (2) Casale played lots of guitar and keys, as did M.M. If somebody snagged my effects board at the close of a performance, I would stop using them also. And anybody still using duct tape for anything besides ductwork only would for the dull gray color, or because they haven't experienced gaffers tape. Or don't care about a sticky mess only resolved by toxic solvents.

I've been a punk since I heard the Ramone's first album a friend recorded off a Long Island radio statioin... before it came out. Then Patti Smith's album came out... and then Devo played SNL and just kicked me in the face. I finally got to see a live show of Devo years ago and ... tho the seating restrictions pissed me off.. they were everything I wanted. What you've done is... insanely detailed and wondrous and I have nothing but respect for you. I hope you know what books are. Thank you soooo much. You made my day :) Love and peace, sir. *hug*

It's weird_ - left hand guitar played right handed - only 4 strings on the guitar mounted in right hand fashion - standard stomp boxes duct taped on to the guitar - so much different guitars and I thought a guitarist would stay on the once he liked most.

Fun Fact about Punk... Punk used to be everything the radio would NEVER PLAY EVER so tons of bands were "PUNK" until incels micro categorized every song in the world into 162,359 different genres....the Overdrive and Distortion pedals were Punk whereas Metal bands and such used cleaner pedals for their sounds. DEVO used DS pedals.

Hey, if you want to know more about all this story, you can listen to the episodes of July 8, 2016 which you already mentionned since it's when the record was broadcasted, but also to the one of May 19, 2017, which is a bit more hidden. Jim Franks (on the phone) was invited to answer all the questions around those records and they broadcasted for the 1st time the other three songs recorded along with Ready'N'Steady ! :)
