Thank you for your inspiring talk. When I get stuck, I sometimes think that I’m alone. It’s nice to know that others are “together” with me.

Thank you for this video. I'm using it with my Frontier Girls troop tomorrow evening. We're working on our mosaics badge and this allows us to virtually visit you the artist. We'll also spend a little time on your website. Thank you for explaining your process so well. And I just realized you are in Dallas. We are in the area. Hitting your website to see more. Thank you!

Using tessera cutting machines doesn't feel like any kind of betrayal to me. Like many mosaic artists, after years of punishing repetitive hammering, nippers, and hand tools I have developed both arthritis and tendonitis, and I thankfully use whatever I require to extend my creativity without guilt or considering my art compromised. Now grinders, lazer cutting and other power tools I can understand; but, please clarify the difference...us 'older' artists may need a few short cuts, but we're still the same dedicated artists we always were. We may use a few 'advances' in cutting our tessera, but we would never compromise our art.

I’ve watched all your videos Sonia and you are by far the most enjoyable to watch about mosaics. I am new to mosaics but I too feel that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. Thank you for taking the time to share your life story with mosaics with all of us. Your work is beautiful and inspiring no doubt. I hope that some day I can make something as beautiful as your work. You are very inspiring. With ❤️Star

Quite honestly did you have a favorable opinion of the way you were approached by FedEx, or did you have to learn to appreciate them differently after you're initial opinion. I figure it took you max a couple days to lay out some pebbles, just to get a photographer for a thousand dollars to take some pictures. Another 4000 to blow the pictures up and another 20thpusand to print them with another 30thpusand for brackets to support. How much now did FedEx pay you for this?

The woman built in with her own two hands its an insult that they settled with just a picture of what she layer out on a flat floor. They should have figured a way to put up and withhold the weight of the work up on their wall.

Beautiful work! Couple quick questions - what is the working time for your thinset? And is it possible to use Unsanded mortar instead of thinset?
@SoniaKingMosaicArtist
@SoniaKingMosaicArtist 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! working time is about 3 hours in the pot, about 10-15 minutes on the board. Get the longest working time possible and keep it covered when you aren't using it. Mortar is not a substitute for thinnest. It is not an adhesive. Kind regards

Hi - awesome! Where do you get your tiles? Also, what is the reason for gluing on the tiles with the underside facing up? Thank you for your response.

I source tile from all over the world. I do have a supplier list on my website under resources. The are glued face down as this project was done using the reverse technique so the floor would be flat.

It is because of your work that I decided to take a break from oil painting and try something different. Now I am addicted. Tile all over my house. So much fun!! Your work is amazing. I have a large collection of fossils, rocks and minerals etc which is what led me to your mosaics. It takes a long time to collect all the materials which I find a exciting challenge (like you said) Thank you for all the inspiration!

Hi Sonia!!! Your work is AMAZING!!!!! I'm totally in love with it!!! I am from Brazil (and live in Brazil). Starting with mosaic now... from what I could see, it is a lonnnng journey!!! But very worthwhile!!! Now, I am focusing in getting the best tools I can. Have bought the Montolit and the Leponitt wheeled nippers. Whould like to know if you can advise me which tile nipper I shall buy. Can you help me with this information?! Thank you so much!!! May God bless your tallent!!!

Hi Sonia! We met in Ravenna 2015. It was nice to meet you there. I already had your book at that time, but it was such a pleasure to see you and of course your mosaic there in Ravenna. It's such a different experience if you see a mosaic on a picture or if you really stand in front of a mosaic. I wish you all the best. Best regards from Slovenia.
