Hey Pete! I have been on Strattera for a year now and have EXACTLY the same experience as you. It calms down the brain chatter and makes me able to sit down and do stuff 😁 But it doesn’t help with executive functions. I’m still forgetful, unmotivated and easily bored, but on Strattera it doesn’t cause the usual spiral of negative thoughts and anxiety. So it’s okay. And I feel like my brain finally has calmed down enough to be able to heal and reflect on past experiences. I am happy for you that you are okay without medication now. I hope to get there too one day. I was looking for a video like this when I first started on Strattera. Hope more people find your content. All the best!

ritalin very dangerous, can easily be addictive, try modafinil it makes handling adhd easier and theres no risk of dependence

It's also important to note that when a medication (stimulant or non stimulant) does not help with motivation at work, it doesn't mean the medication isn't working. It could just mean you are feeling the normal feelings of someone who does not like their job.

Hmmmm Flower... .... ....... Oh I wanted to thank you even if this is such an old video. Been taking 40mg generic Strattera for two weeks and do get the nausea but not bad and feel some effects in the way I think, but very miled. Agree that it's not a cure all, but to push forward and to use it as a directional drug to help you pattern your life better is why I'm hopeful it will do this for me. Thanks for posting. Oh! a flower...

I think it depends on the context of the situation, in situations that involves an adult (18+). In my opinion, I have seen adults use adhd as an excuse for bad behavior!

It worked well for me, 180lbs and took 80mg in the morning without any CNS stimulant for about 3 months - after about a week I was able to get up in the morning no problem, get important stuff done and have energy left over for fun in the evening. Just in case someone is looking for examples of how treatment looked for someone with *moderate* ADHD. I did switch back to CNS stimulant medication in adjunction with more mild SNRI medications because it was a little underwhelming, then again I am a recovering amphetamine addict so the CNS stimulants keep me from falling back into that destructive pattern of abusing street speed. YMMV

Im on it for about 4 months, apart from forgetfulness like you said (forgeting names ALL the time), I feel like it helped me a lot, not perfect but good. Some things you said sounded like expecting some pill to make you superman, 100% motivation 24/7 etc. Normal people also struggle with motivation at job for 8-10 hours. So I feel in many ways the drug pulled me up almost to a normal person, not in all aspects but I'm very very happy :) good video btw bro

Basically if you have ADHD the best medication is money that will allow you not to have to do what you don’t want and can’t find motivation for 👌😅
@psychepeteschannel55003 ай бұрын
That is a good fix for a shocking amount of problems sadly. However, I think that even with ADHD, a person is always driven also by results, or better word - meaning. So while having "infinite" income and thus free time might sound appealing at first, we can see from many examples of rich people, that it works just like all else in life´- unless it has meaning, it becomes boring. Even when you can literally do anything at any time, that in itself becomes boring too..

This is really business coaching and CBT, not adhd coaching. You didn't engage with her adhd at all, just unrelated beliefs she happens to have.
@dancole299411 күн бұрын
I agree. Thing is, ADHD coaching is really ADHD-friendly coaching. If he had focussed on the ADHD stuff here, he may have completely overlooked the beliefs holding her back from achieving her important goals. Well spotted though.

Strattera was terrible and one of the worst ADHD medications I ever took. Gave me horrible sexual issues and filled my emotions and turned me into a husk of myself. I could not experience any joy or laughter at all on strattera. Never again

I'll try to give my best explanation for what strattera does. Basically if you ever taken Sudafed with pseudoephedrine It's exactly the same effects as that medication. If you've ever taken Sudafed and felt really really motivated that's the same feeling you get with strattera but it's the kind of motivation that removes mental barriers like the guy in the video said

Thank you for this video. Dr Peterson has, in recent years, failed to recognize the limits of his expertise. He’s done some real damage to people by disseminating misinformation. Glad to see people standing up and politely but firmly setting the record straight.

I agree with your opinion!! I think a bit of a problem with Peterson is that he is so much in the spotlight that maybe he feels a bit forced to have an opinion on everything. As a clinical psychologist you dońt know everything about every psychiatric or neurological condition. Also his opinion on ADHD medications are the complete opposite of his opinion on antidepressive meds. And his arguments for those are basically the same as for any condition treated with meds.

Jordan says: boys need to play more. My bff with ADHD played a ton. Like a boy, like JP recommends. Why has he ADHD then? And What about girls? I am female with ADHD. I played all the time. I also were very active. I am all over the place. In addition, I've planned my as* off, and still struggle like crazy in school and at work. I am very surprised he lacks so much knowledge on this topic. He clearly has not taken a deep dive in to ADHD. I also feel like he is saying: just get real and try harder.

By reading the comments, I am most obliged to believe the whole human kind has ADHD. And by Occam's Razor, Peterson is absolutely right. ADHD is not a pathology. What is written all around is: "ADHD exists because I have it!" Give me a break!
@psychepeteschannel550010 ай бұрын
How do you reconcile this opinion with other psychological / psychiatric disorders recognized by current science?
@renatooliveira026610 ай бұрын
@psychepeteschannel5500 I do not. I got my own. ADHD is a scam. Period. For nearly 40 thousand years mankind has lived quite well without this infamous "disease." And now 50 years old man say: " God, how could I live this long without knowing I have it!". Pathetic! It belongs to the same group of stupid ideas like "Just stop oil."

I challenge Peterson to babysit a child with SEVERE ADHD for one weekend without having a nervous breakdown and pulling his own hair and skin out within the first hour. These kids need serious mental health care and it is people like Peterson belittling the issue who prevent them from getting the care they need. He has obviously never met a SEVERE case in the masses of over diagnosed moderate and mild ADHD cases.

Could the deficit in attention be a result of ignoring God's word, the Bible? If one makes himself and his goals the focus of attention, isn't it reasonable that things will go wrong in seeking to attain the goals? Setting our affections in heaven, the Christian repents from sin (lust, envy, hatred, unforgiveness, unthankfulness...) and follows the commands of Jesus Christ. The Christian begins to understand he will face ups and downs, yet persists toward the goal of living holy, loving his neighbor as himself, reading and following the Bible, knowing that eternal life in heaven awaits.
@psychepeteschannel550011 ай бұрын
The christian path will help with the problems of ADHD. However as you can readily see, many people do not walk it and focus on goals of greed and other vices and are able to do so, some of them exceptionally well. The ADHD person has problems even with goals and tasks that are generally beneficial to themselves and others. That means that the cause of ADHD is not the absence of abiding by christian virtue, since there are those who try yet still have ADHD problems. And also those that do not try at all and dl not have these problems.
