Thanks for showing a realistic scour! I have seen some discordance between the fleeces I've received verses the examples some KZbinrs show, in terms of their cleanliness to begin with. I am trying to clean Leicester Longwool currently and am struggling so much to get the lanolin out, even using this method. Can multiple scourings harm the wool if I were to persist?

Thanks for the videos you share with us! They are an encouragement to all people with Parkinson's disease. Your trembling hands and stomping feet is not repulsive, on the contrary, it shows the strength and will of a person to create and create wonderful things, despite Parkinson's disease! I look forward to your next videos! Don't worry and show your tremor freely! Also show how the legs tremble and thump, tell in detail about your Parkinson's, when and how it started, how you live with Parkinson's disease. Many people will be encouraged!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such encouraging feedback! I hadn't thought to create a video specifically on my Parkinson's journey. If it helps people, I am more than happy to create it! Though, I promised a lot of other videos that I need to create first! I know I was inspired by a Michael J Fox interview, long before I had Parkinson's but it helped me to manage other difficulties that I had at the time. He was saying that everybody has their own bag of spanners. And given a choice between their own bag of spanners or somebody else's most will choose to keep their own! I thought about difficulties that my friend had and released that I could manage my own difficulties better than I could of managed hers! Little did I know that I would later develop Parkinson's. But when I was Diagnosed, thinking of that interview made it feel less daunting!

There will be very soon! As I hadn't actually tested the theory on refining, I thought I better had. Especially having discredited an extracting theory. The results were disappointing! So I have challenged myself to find a way of using accessible substances and equipment to get good results in practice. I have been posting some of my experiments on my Fflwff facebook page. I am getting close!

Thank you - I found this to be very helpful and informative, and it's great to know that other people have problems with their cats as well! I am really looking forward to hearing more about your fibre tumbler - I previously also used an old spin dryer, but having moved to North Wales last year, that was one thing that didn't come with us, as it was really old and hardly worked!

Thank you! And welcome to North Wales! I am in North Anglesey. I bought my spin dryer from facebook marketplace Mine is also on it's way out now, but I think I paid £15 for it, so it has more than earned its keep! The fibre tumbler video shouldn't take long to record or edit, so it won't be a long wait!

Thank you for video, I do like the way you explain the reasons for why you do what. As a newbie I am trying to work my way through several fleeces. I made the first wash the hottest as limited for hot water then just warm water for rinses and I have to say all I have is a salad spinner it takes ages. I dry them on netting in poly tunnel. So I’m guessing the first hot wash is the most important ?
@fflwff
@fflwff 26 күн бұрын
Thank you and yes, the first Hot wash is the most important for removing dirt with the lanolin. You can do a cold soak first if you like. The aim of which is for the worse of the dirt to fall off before starting the lanolin melt method.

@fflwff

In my most recent batch, I used grated olive oil soap bar, but usually use unicorn powerscour or Austration fibre scour for special fleeces and dish washing up detergent for everything else. Dawn, fairy or an eco dish washing detergent.

Katrin Sonnemann I see you as as passionate about wool as I. I do make the point that the lanolin is secreted from the sabacious glands much like we secrete oils from our sebaceous but that lanolin is a wax. At that point it is pure but then gets contaminated with all the other stuff. The purpose of the videos is to encourage people to engage with wool and enable them to extract and refine the lanolin from all the other stuff. Fingers crossed, after today I will have a product that at least appears to be lanolin. I will then contact the wool testing authority Europe Ltd to see if its financially feasible to get it tested. They happen to be just 23 miles from my home.

Thank you! I often have ideas in my mind and never actually create them. I think this is because the image is perfect in my mind and so I don't to tarnish that mental image by creating something that could fall short. As this turned out just as I imagined and described throughout its creation, I hope that I am breaking down some of my own barriers to felting!

Iori often gets stuck in Bramble due to his curly fleece and needs rescuing! Sometimes they even come back on their own and pretent they haven't left their paddock. But having branches of Bramble stuck to them is a bit of a giveaway!
