My personal view on cooking, since I was younger than most of my group I did not get to help as much or learn as much as some of the older scouts, though I still got it

My Troop sometimes does merit badges together. This helps us finish a little bit each week and we also do merit badges at weekend campouts. We do breakout groups as always after instruction.

I got first aid, sustainability, and swimming easy. I am waiting to take my CPR certification class to get the badge, but do you have any tips for the 90 day requirements on family life and Personal management? those are pretty hard to do.

If you are tech savvy the easiest way is to maintain a spreadsheet for personal management and then keep a journal (or diary) for family life. Don't get discouraged! Its just record keeping and planning really. You got this!!

It’s different for everyone, but I’d say for most Scouts it’d be Personal Management or Communication!

the old scout hanbook emphasizes that you take a variety of badges. not all from the same category..for instance if you like stamp collecting try chemistry .former scout trp 1 of the crow patrol we actually had our own live mascot a crow names Herkimer i never made eagle scout but was patrol leader for two years tom.

Hi, this video helped lots. I joined scouts 1 year ago as an AOL and I never thought I would get this far. I learned so much in that year that when I crossed over I was as filled with knowledge as some other scouts who were there as lions or tigers. I have been in scouts BSA a little bit longer than 7 months and thanks to all your videos I am already a first class scout on my way to star. Eagle is my goal and I want to be 12 when I get it (now I am 11)😅. Hard goal but with your tips and videos it will be a whole lot easier.

I have a question Would only having the 1st value as a priority mean it is or isn’t worth still scouting I’m in the middle of scouting and am still wondering if i still should becuase even though I am not personally interested in or enjoy scouting I still do it because I’m focused on getting Eagle so I can have better employment circumstances meaning higher chance of employment, better work benefits Ect and as a absolute ideal best case scenario job I want to be a commercial pilot probably for delta because my Mom works for delta as a flight attendant and I’m hoping maybe she’ll have tips or something that might help me get a job at delta anyways my point is if anyone has ideas on whether or not scouting would help my specific situation or even the temporary jobs working up to pilot like retail or fast food please share your opinion if you have one on this specific situation Thank you for reading

Envi Sci: Acid rain is no longer part of the experiments, but you are right with the seven experiments you have to do that it can be difficult/expensive. If you do it on your own, you WILL need the book to know how to set up each experiment. I haven't looked too much into Citizenship/Society. But I think your difficulty rankings are pretty spot-on, especially the relative positions in each tier. Communication I think is pretty easy if you are in early high school or late junior high, because by then you have likely given a speech for class.

Absolutely! Earning Eagle really helped to boost my college apps and gave me the opportunity to highlight my leadership experiences. I’d highly recommend all Scouts incorporate at least a bit of their Scouting experience in to their college essays - so much so that I even wrote an article on the topic! You can find it by googling “college Scoutsmarts”

Checked my Dad's edition of the manual. 30s. It had Public Health, Bird Study (!), and Pioneering as required for Eagle. I think they were scrambling a bit for relevant things to put into the requirements. There was Civics rather than 4(!) Citizenship badges. The new one seems a little woke to me.

Hey Man, I would like to see if you could start creating Q&A live streams? I know that this might be a tall order but I think me as well as others would appreciate being able to pop in and ask questions to someone who has the experience in scouting. Let me know what you think.

That’s a great idea! Thanks for the suggestion, Mikey. I’ll look into setting something up. Currently, most topics I cover are requests from Scouts in my newsletter, but a live Q&A would def be useful. Anything I can answer for you in the meantime tho?

Congrats!! While getting all the way to Eagle (or even finishing the tenderfoot reqs) may feel daunting now, just make slow and steady progress. It’s natural to feel a little overwhelmed, but finishing one requirement each meeting will get you ranking up in no time. Right now, just focus on having fun with your troop and learning all that you can. You have an incredible Scouting journey ahead of you, and I’m wishing you all the best!
