I was born in January 1981, so I was 19 when this song came out, don't discount us early 80s kids! A lot of us were chill. I can assure you that I knew Richard Marx before my mom. I loved you in the 80s and 90s, and This I Promise You is such a Richard Marx song, perfectly written for JC's gorgeous voice. My mom passed away suddenly in 1995, and music saved me in the years after losing her... (Pearl Jam especially, all the way to Nsync.) I was 17 when Nsync got huge in 1998, and had the chance to see them perform at my local radio station's free concert (92 Pro FM 24th birthday bash at PPAC) in spring of 1998, thanks to my best friend. They were AMAZING!! They only performed a couple of songs and had no set or props, just them and their voices, dancing and back flips. They were the real deal, and so fun. They set the bar high, one of my favorite concerts ever. When their Disney concert aired in summer 1998, myself, my friends, sister, niece, and cousins already knew Nsync and watched that live on TV so enthusiastically. I listened to "sailing" every night to fall asleep. Thank you JC for sharing your voice in these ballads, and for all the fun and being the backbone of Nsync. In 1998 and 99 I had already seen BSB once at the same venue about 5 months prior, and also again at the Providence Civic Center and again in Boston in the same year span (all thanks to my best friend's mom, who bought my ticket each time. I had absolutely nothing back then, so the privilege of having a wonderful friend whose mom treated me as her own, and taking me to my first concerts was absolutely life changing. And we didn't scream or stalk them (those screaming girls were cringe and embarrassing to us!) Nsync, and their raw performance at the radio station gig, before they were famous, their 2 or 3 songs, was one of my favorite concerts ever. Thank you Richard Marx, thank you JC. You're forever embedded in music history, and your voices and lyrics are timeless.

JC безмерно талантлив, жаль что он не стал суперзвездой как сольный исполнитель, ну а Ричард Маркс живая легенда, замечательно что они исполнили эту замечательную песню дуетом
