When I got pregnant again 6 months later, I was thrilled, but apprehensive. As the months went by, and I watched my belly grow, I knew that I would love my little guy forever. I would hold my belly, feel him kick and sing this song to him. Without you in my life, baby, I just wouldn't be living at all. His name is Brandon, and he'll be 20 this year.

I was born in January 1981, so I was 19 when this song came out, don't discount us early 80s kids! A lot of us were chill. I can assure you that I knew Richard Marx before my mom. I loved you in the 80s and 90s, and This I Promise You is such a Richard Marx song, perfectly written for JC's gorgeous voice. My mom passed away suddenly in 1995, and music saved me in the years after losing her... (Pearl Jam especially, all the way to Nsync.) I was 17 when Nsync got huge in 1998, and had the chance to see them perform at my local radio station's free concert (92 Pro FM 24th birthday bash at PPAC) in spring of 1998, thanks to my best friend. They were AMAZING!! They only performed a couple of songs and had no set or props, just them and their voices, dancing and back flips. They were the real deal, and so fun. They set the bar high, one of my favorite concerts ever. When their Disney concert aired in summer 1998, myself, my friends, sister, niece, and cousins already knew Nsync and watched that live on TV so enthusiastically. I listened to "sailing" every night to fall asleep. Thank you JC for sharing your voice in these ballads, and for all the fun and being the backbone of Nsync. In 1998 and 99 I had already seen BSB once at the same venue about 5 months prior, and also again at the Providence Civic Center and again in Boston in the same year span (all thanks to my best friend's mom, who bought my ticket each time. I had absolutely nothing back then, so the privilege of having a wonderful friend whose mom treated me as her own, and taking me to my first concerts was absolutely life changing. And we didn't scream or stalk them (those screaming girls were cringe and embarrassing to us!) Nsync, and their raw performance at the radio station gig, before they were famous, their 2 or 3 songs, was one of my favorite concerts ever. Thank you Richard Marx, thank you JC. You're forever embedded in music history, and your voices and lyrics are timeless.

I always think of my high school sweetheart when I hear this song. We only dated for a few months before he left for Job Corp and we lost touch. Ten years later and he found me again and we became best friends (I know he wanted more but we lived in different states and both understood that was nearly impossible so we compromised and were best friends). He sent me a voicemail that said he'd love me until the day he died and he'd meet me at Heavens Gate when he got there. A week later he was killed in a head on collision. This song will always hold a special place in my heart.

Wow, Great memories. Musicians these days just don't write simple beautiful love songs anymore. I guess new generations don't fall in love like the way we did before. I remember times when we would make a cassette or a CD with ballads and give it to our girl with selected songs showing how we feel about her or viceversa, then years later if you were still together or not, you would listen to certain songs and would bring back memories. Record companies are big part responsible for letting great music behind and getting new generations into untalented performers most of them unable to even play an instrument or write music. Just very few out there that are worth listening to. Yes, I said "Letting great music behind" because great music never dies.

@AcousticAdd1ct6 жыл бұрын
@@Claymore1977 a CD or compact disc is a medium used by artists that contains studio recorded songs before iTunes and Spotify and online music downloading was famous. You have shops like hmv and goldendisc that sell them. And that's how an artist makes money. The artist income is determined by how many copy of cds,dvds, tapes or vinyls are sold. Today artists could not make much money from these medium since iTunes and Spotify and other online music downloader are botching up their income at a fairly very low price per track instead of a whole album bought. People tend to buy only the popular songs @ 99 cents rather a whole album a 12 or 10 dollars per copy of whole 10 or12 track album. Artists nowadays make more money through other merchandise such as t-shirts and other aesthetics they use or develop and their sold out concerts.
