The thing with the post regeneration formula is the episode start of small in scope, a single house/buidling and gradually grows as we learn more about the new situation that formula doesn't work when you instead put it in a busy chaotic plot driven episode

I've always found it weird how people act partisan with this and feed into the narrative that there is some sort of rivalry between the two projects, and to love one you have to hate the other... Both are fantastic shows in my opinion.

As a 15 y/o British girl who watches the US version but has a Dad who loves the UK version, we always have this debate. He insists the British version is better (he may be biased as he loves Ricky Gervais) but for me it’s hands down the US version. I love Michael Scott 😭

there’s actually quite a few American remakes of British TV shows that were a lot better than the original such as The Office, Shameless, and House Of Cards

Uk has a different sense of humour, it was the same with shameless uk and shameless us. Thank god they didn’t try and remake only fools and horses, porridge and good night sweetheart. But the us has some amazing comedies that’s equally as good but in a different way

The 2 are very different shows. While the uk version is very funny(arguably funnier than the us version), it doesn’t have the heart of the us version. When I feel sad or depressed, I turn on the American office knowing I’ll get some laughs but also some feel good moments. Another point of contrast, while the uk version ended early, the us version kinda limped to the finish line and gave into flanderization.

I’m an American and I’ve watched the uk version about 3 times now and I love it, I’ve never and will never see the American version of it

If they did a recreation of Marco Polo and went full on Anime style with it, I’d probably quite enjoy it.

I saw the American version and it wasn't anything like Fawlty Towers. It was crap.

At some point in thr US version it feels like the "documentary " style is getting in the way of a typical single camera sitcom rather than enhance and accentuate the narrative and affect the characters and how they are in front of a camera. People behave so differently when a camera is in their face and the UK version I think integrates this documentary aspect so seamlessly and makes the most of it while the US version sometimes feels like it's a burden and they give up trying to let it be part of the creative process. At whoch point I don't understand why this show was adapted. Just make a work place based single cam sitcom. Obviously different people find different things funny. I prefer UK being neither from the US or UK. Just find the uk version a more objectively well crafted and original work.
