I have been playing in rock bands since 1982. I learned how to play solid rhythm guitar, before l ventured into soloing. Still, to this day, playing Malcom Young brings me more joy than anything.

I've always loved that little part from 3:00 to 3:08 on the album. The live versions on "If You Want Blood" and the VH1 special omit that in favor of just strumming along. 💯👍⚡️

Flick of the switch is a top 3 album of the Brian Johnson era IMO. They’re mostly pretty easy songs to play but they’re fun and sound badass. I learned 3 songs off the album yesterday and I’m learning this one today. Question: I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m wondering if he does the G chord, and then moves down to the thumb for a D/G on those last 2 chords… kinda like he does in highway to hell. Otherwise, it looks and sounds right . I’d be interested in your thoughts about that.
@malpractice590415 күн бұрын
Hey man. Flick is Brian’s best vocal IMO. He’s a beast on this. As far as the last 2 chords. You are absolutely correct. I did most of these Flick videos before I had the isolated tracks and couldn’t really tell. But those 2 chords are definitely open chords G and D/F#.

Hi, I love your videos because they are of great reference to me. Sometimes I just need conformation when I'm not sure I play something right, sometimes I wanna learn something new. There's just one thing in this video though I would like to question: Is the 9th note of this legendary riff really on the 3rd and not on the 4th fret? Please tell me what you think.
@malpractice5904Ай бұрын
Thank you!! You know, I'm not 100% sure. This is the way I have always played it. You could right though.

@@malpractice5904 This song was the reason i got a guitar way back in 1975, and i practiced this one only, for years ! That's why i know it's about the right hand.

@GokizzmassАй бұрын
Interesting bass line in this, was it George Young ? that was the rumour.
@malpractice5904Ай бұрын
Not sure. Cliff joined the band for this album so I always assumed it was him. Who knows for sure.
@GokizzmassАй бұрын
@@malpractice5904 It's much more melodic than usual though, makes a big difference, walking bass would have really lifted a few songs that were already great.

I think you nailed it.. Mal and Stevie don't get too exotic.. keep it simple.. I think the position is fine and this album has a lot of bass guitar and those notes will fill the sound out. I recently lowered the action a tad on my UK beast and I think my zero fret is a bit low.. got a bit buzzy upper frets.. LIVE that beast. Bit I may need to pull the Zero fret and get the height up a few thousands
