Die-cast up top for an improved cross stick is my guess?

This reminded me of a metal snare I’ve owned that had a very woody tone. Loved it. Gosh. Cannot remember what it was…. I’m getting old. Also, I need to buy some die cast hoops. I wish all my snares had em

Jon, I'm loving these videos. I appreciate what you're doing and love watching you groove man!! This is great information, I use these snares in my home studio and tried the diecast on top and love this on my supraphonic and Black Beauty. Very inspiring ...thank you!!

Its MARKETING that says its a "student" model. They want us to BUY a snare that COSTS TWICE as much!

@@Jazzfestn Hey, thanks for chiming in! Appreciate your view on this 🙌

I love mine. It was my very first. My dad bought it from a guy he worked with for a whopping $75 when I joined band in 5th grade. That was almost fifty years ago and it's still on my kit. The warmest, most versatile metal shelled drum I've ever heard.
@brianchisnell1548Ай бұрын
Not a student drum. Those had 6 lugs. This is a less expensive version of the 400. They came with 12 strands, Supra had 20
@therealjonsmith1Ай бұрын
Actually, it IS a student drum. Thanks for chiming in Brian, but you are incorrect. I was on a Jr. High band stage in the 80’s playing an 8-lug Ludwig Acrolite snare drum, just like this one. All the best! 🙌

@@therealjonsmith1 So, the Jazz fest is a student drum. My student drum was a 400. 1969

reverse cs heads add noise to the sound. there is no reason to dampen a coated ambassador when it is tuned up. i would never use a dampen ring because it also adds noise.
@therealjonsmith12 ай бұрын
Thanks for chiming in. There are so many tunings and head combinations. I tune down usually, and def need dampening for that. Never noticed the CS dot causing noise. The BFSD can vibrate tho. Also, I’d go through a standard ambassador before the chorus haha. Sounds like you tune higher. Cool. The Acrolite is so flexible. Have a good one 👍
@DeluxeTripleАй бұрын
@@therealjonsmith1 you know lately i have been using a Remo Falams 2 on the batter with medium tuning. it has a long sustain (ring) on the fundamental when I gok it. I have triple flanged hoop on batter and a die cast hoop on the snare resonant side. Clear Ambassador snare side head.
