Great stuff Darryn, i like your clear concise teaching method as not many good drummers know how to demonstrate things in an easy, step by step format. Cheers

Seriously 🧐. Your a phenomena . Einstein and my selfie 🤳 will see you in the morning. . We want to take some drum lessons from you and Albert wants to talk Mathamatics with your selfie 🤳. We’re both aware that you have a PhD in Quantum Mathematics. Cheers 🙂

Imagine if you had Albert Einstein with his drums next to yours and you both mixed it up with the concepts and polyrhythms you demonstrated and Einstein applied his theory of relativity and famous eguation Energy equals mass at a constant speed squared , your studio would explode and a new galaxy would be created . Too avoid this I recommend you get some sleep . Shave and hair cut also . 🤔

This lies around 104-105 bpm. That's a really fast groove using one handed 16ths on the hats! Maybe uploading a lesson on what to practice to achieve those kinds of tempos would be really useful. Thanks alot for all your contribution through the years! I' ve learned a alot of stuff, from your channel.

Hey mate. Thanks for sharing your KZbin lessons. I’ve really been getting a lot out of them. I have a question which is unrelated to this video. I wasn’t sure how to message you. I’ve noticed I’m not great at picking up phrasing and arrangements quickly. Seems there’s a million videos on fills and everything but. I’m wondering if you have any lessons that may help. I’m concentrating on jazz. I’ve been Playing along to songs I need to learn and realising I really suck at remembering accents and brass phrases. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

These are some of the best lesson videos out there, not just how good the licks are but how thoroughly you explain the concepts behind them.

If you drop out the 1 and play only the and of 2 and then 4 you can build a similar exercise on the Cuban Tumbao right?

i had came up with this exact samba about 2 years ago and i love it, its comes natural to play this with a Brazilian samba swing. their native samba doesnt feel like its perfectly straight 16ths so i try to emulate them. fun to improvise over this framework with other flam rudiments as well. great video, much love from turkey.

try listening Kiko Freitas. Is difficult but a entire new world to discover. and you are right, SAmba is in the between. Not straight.

You can sing ta-karaka to get the Brazilian feel down. A Maria Martinez practical tip.

The most complicated thing in life is to achieve simplicity. As our great host points out and I lack any technical knowledge, SPACE. Space gives a person time to think and focus. Filled sound, like Spector introduced, allows for mistakes, lack of solid music, etc. Ringo's style allowed the other parts of a song to be heard. He played to the song, not overplaying to take away from the song. I appreciate George Hrab's excellent presentation and explanation. Thank you..

Great stuff! Reminds me of a Stanton Moore video a few days ago. He seems to have a less mathematical approach to this, as in around 7:46 of this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/roDXgZ9_qrOlpq8si=wOeK99ejvPBnnA-J
@chiao13702 ай бұрын
That being said I admire both ideas. And I just noticed Stanton’s way of doing this phrase in 5 keeps the right hand in 4/4; while Vinnie’s and yours allow emphasis on the flamed accented notes

I just tap them gently on the side of my head, the tone is very clear. I use it to match a pair for playing as I won’t have a set of scales at a gig. I’m not worried it being exact, just close enough so that one isn’t very high and other very low. Can normally find two sticks that are within about a semitone within a minute though so isn’t a hardship. I also give them a quick roll to make sure they’re straight as do get some bananas sometimes. This is all assuming I have time, if not I just grab two sticks, but I do notice the difference so prefer to pick them pre-gig if I can. If I was organised I would pair them and label them at home before, but I’m not. Some guys do weigh them and label them though, I’ve seen that. Or can try and keep them in pairs from the start but that would be too sensible!
