I love them. The wider versions are very effective in helping to dampen over-tones and other ringing on a ride or big crash without the need for tape, etc.

I'll share my experience. Several years ago I used these cympad felts, all versions. At first it seemed like a magic pill that would change the sound of all cymbals for the better. But in reality it turned out not to be so. Only the ride and hi-hat pads performed well (because the hi-hat and ride are much stiffer and therefore do not cut into the sustain of the cymbals). But the crash pads turned out to be very soft and due to this, on the contrary, they muffled the sound and the cymbals sounded unnatural. Especially small crashes and splashes. So I recommend using these pads only in the Ride version for all cymbals (of course hi-hat for hi-hat).

Might be worth a try is the Cush Pads from Sonall Percussion, have some here if you want.

First of all thank you for the great content you provide, really useful. As for the pads I do see an obvious difference, however I like the regular felt sound better. Maybe I will change my mind if I get to try them myself on my setup. Thanks again.

Second one definitely sounds more open, the cymbal breathes more, however, both have their good points.

I‘ve used them for years and noticed the difference even though everyone told me there was none. I think my cymbals sang more when I used them. Also the Hi-Hats are better with them than felts. Just my opinion 😊 Great videos 👍😎

Do you play out often? Is it difficult to put cymbals on and off?

I think there was more of a difference when you moved it from one stand to the other, but maybe that's because the cymbal was not at the exact same angle. I think the operative word here is "different", it's not necessarily better but it does seem to change the behaviour of the cymbal. Also I agree, the new dw felts are so hard, I am not sure what the reason is but I have switched many of mine back to softer felts.

The articulation is better when your cymbal is placed on the cympad.

It seems to me that there is quite a noticeable difference. The second felt makes the cymbal play brighter and with more sustain.

Listened with headphones. The only difference I hear is the cympad has a tiny bit more stick and a tiny bit less wash.

You can get the exact same effect by tilting the cymbal a little more. If you want the same effect as putting tape on your cymbal, tilt it a lot more.
