ok the withered chica one is kind of a call out but i swear that i do have my own personal reasons for liking her. 1st and least of all, shes one of the most consistent members whenever i play fnaf world. prize ball 2 and cupcakes is good for midgame. 2nd and most importantly is how she stands out from the other withered designs. freddy still has his usual air of professionalism and id say he looks more dapper in withered form, foxy is straight up better as a worn down pirate, and bonnie has that missing arm and lazer eye combo that looks metal asf. theres nothing particularly "cool" about withered chica, shes constantly stuck in a t pose, with her jaw unhinged and eyes wide open. the more you look at it, the more she looks like shes in pain and thats what i love about it if that makes sense. its just kinda sad yet so intriguing

freddy is supposed to be menacing, scary, and entertaining. The new one just makes you feel gross and uncomfortable.

Personally, I just think criticizing the movie because the evil man is guilty of one of the most evil actions is a bit unfair regardless of how sensitive the subject is. That's not to say anyone isn't in their right to dislike the movie because of it, but I just never understood why that was such a main point of contention for why it sucks. Though I understand the criticism more when it's seen as a missed opportunity to go that angle rather than the suggestion he was innocent the whole time, it's just a much more compelling direction. And to think they were so close to going with it, likely considered it, is just massively disappointing to me. I don't think the movie is awful, it's just an inferior movie to the original and follows too many chain of events from the original. There's actually a lot to like about it that I feel people don't often recognize.

I'm about to expose myself, but I'm into the bold and brave choice of making/fully leaning into Krueger being a pedo. Now, by no extent do I believe child abuse and sexual abuse should be romanticized or glorified in any media comic, movies, games, or books. The only time it should ever be done is to show how deplorable the abusers are! And when were we ever rooting for the killers and antagonists. It's one thing for sympathetic villains, but the killer in a horror/slasher movie. I think ever since the joker, we as the audience are asked the moral dilemma of rooting for the protagonist or antagonist who is shown as a POS. But the main killer who is a known child killer like really.

Yeah the secret dungeon with pictures scene was ridiculous 1. Nobody ever found that? 2. Pdoe file. Filthy, and ripped off so many iconic scenes.

edit: i think i came off as overly critical. i didnt intend to be, im just very passionate about this topic for obvious reasons. i think your take is valid! just that you are looking at this from the lense of soneone who grew up with the og series, and i am looking at this from the lense of soneobe who has survived ongoing childhood sexual abuse for years and years. of course we will have different takes. that is perfectly fine! i just have many thoughts on this topic and i wanted to share them as a repeated csa survivor, I see your point with this. old freddy, people liked to almost root for him, he was actively enjoyable to watch, which adding in the detail of pedophile takes away but I don't mind it, personally. I am obviously biased as I really care about this topic. it is undoubtedly a big reason why it feels so different from the og, but I think it is an important and intruiging topic that thematically fits with freddys character even if it hampers what we originally liked about him. I loved the tone of the film, the lost innocence of a child, the tragedy of having that innocence ripped from you at an age where you couldn't even understand the horrors that where being forced upon you. they haunt you. they haunt you, into your future, into your interactions with others, into your very mind and shapes you. and, for many, this trauma haunts their dreams. for many of us, the child molester come back to haunt you in your dreams is painfully REAL. I think the film was so close to being a beautifully tragic representation of that. I was so close to being a genuinely great movie in my eyes, nostalgia glasses for the og aside my problem with the film? it spread itself thin. I think the false protagonist twist should've been dropped entirely and nancy and quentin should've been there from the very start, because as it is, the movie couldn't properly delve into ANY of its protagonists because they tried to fit so many in such a short amount of time. the very important concept of hoe trauma affects and haunts a person, we hardly got to explore that I the characters themselves, how it affects them daily, how it seeps into every aspect of your life, the hole that will never be filled in your heart as it constantly aches and haunts you. the most we got was nancy being traumatized by freddy being gross (which I did not watch that scene for my safety). I mean, look at quentin. how do we know how hos trauma affects him? literally jack shit we don't know hardly anything about it and it's never even addressed. the only reason we know he is a csa survivor is because it's implied freddy abused all of the children. all of the focus in this aspect is on nancy. all the pictures where of her, freddy only talks to her about it, quentin might as well have not even been a victim. which is super sad because of the way male csa survivors are rarely portrayed in the media and how they are constantly trivialized and pushed aside in real life to the point modt people will say "you should be glad". quentin could've been great representation for male csa survivors but instead we got this. quentin was my favorite character in the film, he was highly relatable to me in many ways and he was the most active character in the film. researching as much as he could as he used whatever he could get his hands on to keep himself awake, finding the truth of freddy, always getting nancy out of trouble and trying to harm freddy while protecting nancy, I think he could have so much potential if only he was given more room in the movie. there's a reason he was chosen over nancy herself to be the dbd survivor. that being said, nancy in the remake also needs sone work. this comment I already so long, but just look at og nancy and remake nancy. I think quentin is more like og nancy even. I understand it was likely because the actress was miserable working on this movie but they sucked all the life out of nancy which is a shame since ig nancy is one of my all time favorite final girls ok I'm finally done then you for reading for those that made it till the end lmao

A lot of people seem to forget that Freddy in the OG movies was a pedophile too. It was just more subtly referenced.

Diddler victim here. I don't have a problem with characters being monsters in fiction so long as it's not just for shock value and carries the weight it should. The issue with canonizing FK with being a predator-- something better left up to audience interpretation in this case imo-- is that he's a pop culture icon whether we like it or not, which means he has to be marketable and likable to normal human beings. Any normal human being can get behind the idea of a violent character, whether it be for the primal id inside everyone that derives entertainment from violence, or because they could picture themselves in a situation that leads to violence. No normal human being can put themselves into a situation that leads to taking advantage of a child-- it's too taboo, and rightfully so. It's not "fun" to explore visually or in writing for any piece of work with any semblance of attachment to reality, which makes for a more unpleasant experience when you're watching a confirmed pedo take pleasure out of slashing teens. It just adds an uncomfortable dimension to the character that doesn't add anything to the slasher formula. Tl;Dr: I'm not against films that examine monstrous characters, but for that sort of approach to work for a character like Freddy, I feel like NOES's narrative would have to change in a major way. (Great video btw! I'm not trying to criticize your take by any stretch of the imagination. Just giving my own thoughts)

I kind of wish they went through with the "he wasn't really a pedophile case." So many people nowadays love to judge others instead of working on themselves, some people have even been falsely accused of pedophilia and killed themselves over it with the evidence coming out way to late of the false stories... There is no denying, compared to the older movies of nightmare on Elm street it wasn't doing well as a remaster of a Nightmare on Elm street as a franchise, but the plotline the movie included about Quentin being in belief they were being haunted for killing a possible victim of false Pedophilia charges was the chance for the movie to at least lead into a story about something that happens way more then it should.... And bring awareness to how blind, and oblivious humans can be, and how our actions can have serious consequences.

You should watch the documentary never sleep again it'll really put to bed these ideas that freddy wasn't supposed to be one. They made everything subtext because there was something that happened with the school and teachers doing that to children and they thought that having those themes in forefronts of Freddy's character would look bad. You can clearly see in Freddy 2 and 3 there's a definitely a sexual element to his terrorizing the kids but hey I'm just saying what the horse himself said aka Wes craven. It's definitely a good 3-hour watch though I suggest it.
