The best angle for a balljoint on a bagged minitruck is zero. Zero degrees. Most people try to set it up at ride height. The best setup is layed out. Balljoint should be at the end of travel layed out. Then it has to go all the way across the travel to top out. As you may know the S10 balljoint us best for a Mazda. That's a K5208. A K5108 actually fits better because the shaft is shorter.
@BasicBagWurxАй бұрын
@@michaelwhite-oi1ft you actually sent me the file for the s10 plate for when i modified these arms. Originally i was trying to lay the truck out on a stock spindle and the plates being flat wasnt working, couldnt get the truck to lay out. There are some other videos showing that issue i had with stock spindles. Once i gave into defeat on using stock spindles i swapped out to some drop spindles and started reworking the plates. Took alot of angle out of them and they worked. But i went ahead and decided to modify them some more, which went back to flat. Other than shaft length is there any difference between the K5108 and K5208 as far as travel goes? I would assume both are still servicable.

My next project minitruck is probably going to be a Mazda after I get my S10 done and gone. Did the carrier bearing used to mount from underneath?
@BasicBagWurx3 ай бұрын
The way I made the mount, the carrier bearing sits on top. So I actually made it shorter and then shimmed the carrier bearing to be able to adjust my driveline angle. Once all the fabrication work is complete on the chassis I will once again go back and double check all of my angles to make sure everything is correct from front to back.
@jayinmi37063 ай бұрын
@@BasicBagWurx I did something similar when I built the mounts for my trans crossmember. I made it lower than it needed to be so I could space it up to keep driveline angles in check...but it's not bagged or anything. It's just getting a 6.0 and a 4l80E.

So, is the bed from the Cab Plus shorter than a "normal" standard cab bed? Great progress. I came over after Virginia is for Lowriders mentioned you in his last video.
@BasicBagWurx3 ай бұрын
The cab plus bed is actually 1in shorter than the standard cab short bed. But the biggest difference between the beds is the wheel well locations. If I remember correctly, they are like 8in different and the standard cab short bed wheels are centered in the bed. Thanks for jumping over to this channel and make sure to subscribe as we are basically doing the same thing as Crawford over there at Virginia is for Lowriders. We are currently rebuilding the wife's Cab Plus with a few twists.
@jayinmi37063 ай бұрын
@@BasicBagWurx I was curious, because it seemed like it would almost be easier to start with a standard cab truck and just rebuild the part of the frame you wanted tto update anyway. But now that I understand the bed difference, I think I see why you're doing what you're doing. Already sub'd. Work looks great!
@BasicBagWurx3 ай бұрын
@@jayinmi3706 Thanks. I didnt want to get to crazy with the wifes truck. But i had a standard cab short bed parts truck that the frame was good on so i just figured out where i needed to cut the frame on it then the location on the cab plus and married the two frames together. So the rear portion of the frame utilizes the rear cab mount from the standard cab short bed, but after putting the cab and bed on the frame we noticed the rear cab mount wasnt tall enough. So we cut the original one off and made a tall one for the cab plus rear cab mounts.
