looking like he upshifts without using the clutch, seemlessly chaging gears with just a little lift off the throttle, kinda cool, he only uses the clutch to get going and to down shift, the germans call it quick shift!

guys I have a question at 7:05 why he has to shift from 6 to 5 to 4 to 3 to 2 this is a manual transmission right? no sequential gb why not from 6 to 2

Boris told me on numerous occasions, pick the right gear to max the exit corner’s ideal engine’s RPM speed…. If you go 4th into first, chance are you will you’ll loose precious time!

Apparently it is in fact a sequential gearbox, only the shifter still follows an H-pattern for whatever reason.

His downshifts are very fast, it even looks like a sequential gearbox even though it is manual.

With a straight cut transmission (that also makes that whining noise) you can freely shift through without a clutch

it's a sequential H pattern transmission so of course the downshifts are fast

@@ManLikeEddy I wonder why some race cars have those, the Lotus 49 apparently had a sequential with H-pattern as well and I don't understand what the benefit would be and how it would even work? Maybe it locks all but the neighboring gear from any given position, but I imagine it could still cause some confusion as opposed to just pushing/pulling a shifter.
