Have you ever seen a bird, that has been declared extinct? Me my dad and brother were sitting on the front lawn to our house, and one day a weird looking bird flew by, and my dad and brother were like "What the hell was that". And even though i was standing nearby, i had missed it, or seen it out of the corner of my eye.. So my dad and brother went to the library, and they both agreed, they had found the exact bird, in a book. And it had been declared extinct, for i believe it was for hundreds of years. I dont not remember what bird it was.

Very cool. Kinda wondering maybe skunks and squirrels simply don't like peanuts. Or maybe they don't have the right sense of smell to pick 'em up. Either way, Jays are badass.
@BmillsWildlifechannel10 күн бұрын
I was surprised they didn’t try to get the peanuts either they do often eat them.

Loved this video -- I have the fourth generation blue jays....I can tell the patriarch of the group because he pulls peanuts out of the peanut feeder and checks the weight....if it's not heavy enough, he grabs another...until he's happy with the weight...then flies off with it!

I have been noticing a lot of hawks around coastal Maine lately. A co-worker said she saw a hawk easily kill a squirrel too. Crazy. I wonder if the freezing in place tactic of birds actually increases their chance of survival , or if it's a flawed reflex.
@BmillsWildlifechannel23 күн бұрын
@@healthyminds9279 I am not sure would be interesting to know I do think this Bluebird was lucky being in the open like that. Having Crows and especially Blue Jays in the area often helps notify the other birds of their presence.

Awesome experiment! Can anything top the Stump? Was cool to see the different angles of the main feeder. Never seen a cardinal take a whole peanut before. Back in summer i bought that exact same red feeder from your field cam, at the Reny's in Saco. Had to stop using it because squirrels would jump on it and collapse it. Good to know it can support bigger birds.

What a creative video idea! Would love to see more like this. It was fun to see all the factors come into play. I was expecting the feeder to run out first, since the Blue Jays are used to going there. Then crows and squirrels changed the tide. Side note: I wonder why squirrels don't go on the bird feeder more often.
@BmillsWildlifechannelАй бұрын
Thank you. I hope to have another one soon. The feeder is about 5 feet off the ground and I have fencing sleeves over the posts which make it hard to climb. However their is one that jumps off the trees still but seems to like the Old Stump better now
