The SDJR period layout was a joy to see with some very interesting stock.

Very sad to hear the news about Nigel. Back in 2000 my wife and I visited Washford and had a good 'S & D' conversation with Nigel and Peter Cattermole; as we turned to leave, Peter had a quick word with Nigel and then called us back and asked if we would like a footplate ride on Kilmersdon as Nigel had to shunt the yard. Of course we said 'Yes' and what an amazing experience that was; at Peter's request, we wrote about it and it was printed in the Pines. A wonderful memory for us and grateful thanks to Nigel. Our thoughts today are with his family and friends. R.I.P. Nigel. Bob Hylands.

Oh the joy of hardworking steam on the climb to Masbury! Well, part of it. And from an authentic loco even though she probably spent much time pottering around Radstock, Haydon Hill and Norton Hill!

I remember her at Radstock when the SDJR Trust was based there with 53808. She gave brake van rides on part of the S&D up to the level crossing.

The 7F is so beautiful, loved cleaning it in the mornings for the gala! Its such a shame that it won't be running for much longer 😢 apparently it's getting very tired, poor thing was worked so hard whilst on the main lines 😞

Some interesting wagons in that freight train, and a change to see the 7F with a non-S&D headcode. Very nice though to see her in action.

Lovely to see Kilmersdon back in steam I hope some day to see her visiting West Somerset Railway again at some stage. even if its only for a gala as this was my favourite loco I use to see operating in Washford Yard.

I salute the honesty of this layout: the hours no doubt spent on its planning and construction coupled with the ~ maybe it was just the camera angle ~ switch gear just behind a wall for ease of access. Great stuff!

She looks great! Will she be back in that SDJR livery?
@sdrt2 жыл бұрын
No, the SDJR livery matched Coach 4 such that they looked very good together; however, for Kilmersdon, that livery is inaccurate. Kilmersdon was the last steam locomotive to work the Somerset coalfield, but was not an S&D engine.

Wow! She looks and sounds terrific. 20 or so years ago, my wife and I had the privilege of a footplate ride on Kilmersdon while she was shunting Washford yard. I was impressed how gutsy she was for her size. Great to see her back.

Hi Tim, That was great many thanks for doing this. having tried doing some video's myself on Sturminster I can appreciate how many tries and the amount of editing required to pull this together. The signals were great and the falling arm on the Whittaker superb, was that from a kit or a scratchbuild ? Video is a cruel medium, for me the missing crew were a standout, is that on your to do list or now you have the bug for building layouts are you going to do another one ? Thanks Gavin..
@sdrt2 жыл бұрын
Tim writes, "Hello Gavin, Thanks for your response to the video. You’re right! There is so much to set up that isn’t obvious until you look at the first takes. I want to do more when I get some time but it may be a while. Hoping to get better depth of field, colour balance and maybe more sound, as examples. And I’ll find a crew for the 0-4-4! Pleased with the signals that I’ve now coordinated with route setting. The three Whitakers were scratch built and probably unique. I have been very fortunate to have Richard and Steve in our Northern Area Group whose modelling skills are way ahead of mine! Extremely unlikely to do another layout. There is still much to do on TL (that the videos of course omit to show) and the years are passing! Thanks for your interest. Hope Sturminster is working well. Cheers. Tim."

@@sdrt , Hi Tim, Sturminster is still going well although I'm starting to think about a bit of a rebuild to redo a few sections of track that are not as reliable as they need to be and the station buildings are starting to look there age. I'll hopefully get some use out of it for the next year or so as I'm now living in Shaftesbury. I've started volunteering at Shillingstone and I think I'll do a model of that so I have something to show whilst Stur gets a rest. Best wishes gavin..
@JP_TaVeryMuch2 жыл бұрын
@@gavincollins5997 I'd absolutely love to see what you make of Shillingstone if and when it happens, especially as my parents live in CO. Although I'm not sure that all your efforts shouldn't be applied to the full size version with its exciting extension plans now that they've got the nod from the powers that be, if you had a choice.

Enjoyable. I'm currently trying to master (and failing) the session "Helston Freight Run" from the Trainz 2019 DLC "Cornish Mainline & Branches." I recognize the film's Trevarno Station as the one seen in the game, in its theoretical 1930s condition. The general countryside is a good match too. The starting station, I suspect, postdates the 1930s. Leastwise I can't (yet?) place it within the game.
