Aloha! I'm literally sitting here "in" my favorite jeans that I've already patched previously in the knee (this pair fits exactly the way I like it). The wear and tear is showing in the "lap" area and I was wondering how I would patch the worn-out spots and very stringy holes that get pulled open every time I kneel down. LOVE the options you've provided, and I will probably be making use of more than one, especially since I just got myself a brand new overlock machine (I could practice on it by overlocking my patch pieces). PS. Grandma (who sometimes call me "Melly"🙂) has a bunch of embroidery thread that she isn't making use of anymore, so I'm sure I will also take inspiration from your embroidery-patch video, too. Thank you so much! 🤙

I used this video back in 2020 when I was first learning to sew, and now I'm coming back to it once again 4.5 years later as a more advanced seamstress. Thank you once again for this amazing resource!

What do you do to tie it at the end?
@BrigittevTien2 күн бұрын
Today I put my new walking foot on my machine and it is exactly the same as yours. I think I did it the right way and it worked. Just one thing, I had a really hard time getting the fabric under the foot because the top ‘teeth’ go through the foot so it leaves a very narrow space for the fabric. I hope you understand what I mean and maybe even know what I am doing wrong? The stitching was perfect with very stretchy fabric so I really want to understand this foot 😊 Thanks!

English isnt my first language so i might've missed it, but when i drop the shoulder point for my slope by that quarter inch - doesnt it make that slope for my front pattern longer? How do i then sew these pieces together if front and back arent the same?
@Mellysews7 күн бұрын
You have to adjust slope on both front and back.

Great explanation. I noticed you didn’t back stitch. Is that not necessary with a walking foot to secure the stitches?
@Mellysews14 күн бұрын
Backstitching isn't generally needed for any seam that will be crossed by another line of stitching.

Thank you!! I have a bridesmaid dress coming in the mail, which is satin. I'm definitely going to have to alter it a bit - it's a gorgeous dress, but nothing satin and straight off the rack is gonna fit well enough for a wedding. So I bought a size up and have my fingers crossed that it'll be eaily alterable... I'm a trained quilter and very novice tailor. I've done hems and some cotton altering, but nothing quite like this. I'd go to a tailor if the budget wasn't so tight right now. Hate online shopping, but the bride is being really easy-going about what we can wear, so long as it's satin and in the approximate color scheme, so I took the chance to not pay $200 for a dress.
