I had a Geforce 4200ti back then(128mb VRAM, 200 dollar card), and it could run the game pretty much 40-60fps on 1280x1024 resolution. WoW really didn't demand a lot, it's just that the concept of a "gaming PC" really wasn't an established thing yet.

@@Hooga89 very true. Most people have memories of playing the game on their family's 1999 emachines pos, but It didn't really take much power at all to run the game smoothly as long as you had a proper setup. An $800 entry level build would be enough to play the game smoothly even in raids.

@@SNSTR It was hard because people didn't really know much about the game back then. It's just like a new job, when you start you don't know everything about it but after a while you are experienced. Now on classic people can do any boss like it's nothing to them because they have the knowledge they need to min/max.

@@SNSTR And a lot of content was over tuned to a point where it was not actually doable by players. Ion Hazzikostas himself proved thing's like C'thun to be mathematically impossible to beat, so they had to nerf the boss. Now Ion is the game director for wow.

Well, game now is in 1.12 patch that every raid is super nerfed and dungeon gear op. Also there are no pugs doing 20 man MC.

@Genes Facts are still facts. Ascent were the first, wether you like it or not. And people knew about Ascent back then when the game was current, after 15 years of course they will be forgotten lol, especially since it was their only wfirst ever. Ascent are still playing and raiding btw. Did you actually even play back then? It wasnt easy content when it was current.

@@azurehaiku i don't think planning for years is even necessary when you can kill the boss with nearly half of the raid members being lower than level 60. Not to mention they didn't farm for consumables and most of them were in green gears. They even went full gnomes to show how min-maxing wasn't even close to being necessary. If the current players have the gears and preparation equivalent to Ascent they would have 1-2 shotted instead of wiping so many times. People just got better.

@@Osiris261 you prob dont die on retail because you dont run much mythic raid and dgs 15+ lol, +'s are much harder than any content in Classic, theres much more above that 10+ weekly. people wipe literally thousands of times clearing current Mythic content
