It's so completely maddening that developers still make end users edit conf files by hand.

One problem with presence sensors i have experienced. The sensor detect fan propeller move as a human move. This is not good if you have to use fan in your room.

Hello! I have a problem with admin token on this addon. When I log in to admin panel it says "You are using a plain text `ADMIN_TOKEN` which is insecure. Please generate a secure Argon2 PHC string by using `vaultwarden hash` or `argon2`." I have generated password using argon2, but Im not sure what to do with this as I cannot find any files corresponding to the ones In the write up and I do not want to lock myself out of it. Does anyone know how to get it fixed?

@mostlychris, do you like your Tempest? I ended up getting rid of mine as the humidity sensor kept messing up about every 4 months or so. It would show negative humidity. The only fix was to climb the roof and reset it. Finally got rid of it and went to an ecowitt. The Tempest had a lot more sensors than the ecowitt but nothing I can't live without I guess.

Really nice. Of course, you misspelled "humidity" in the mini grid. I still also believe that headings are basically superfluous and a waste of space, except possibly when there's any possibility of confusion, like inside/outside temps.

I hadn't realized that this was already 2 years old. Sheesh. Chris, I never really messed around with the Go2rtc because everything just seemed to work. I have tried to set mine up similar to what you did with the main stream and sub stream however the localhost 127.0.0.1:8554/driveway does not seem to work for me. What is the purpose doing it this way in relation to using the standard rtsp stream? I see you must have a good amount of Amcrest cameras as I do but I can not seem to make it work.Can you elaborate on this further?

For the mini graph card vertical spacing issue... I found that you can set grid_options: rows: 2.3 and it works fine. Strangely it seems like you can use decimal values only for the rows, not columns.

Wonderful, wonderful. But what I never understand is why people show Temperature and Humidity with 2 decimals. Your sensor isn't that good.

I followed the setup process correctly, but after reaching 18:57 I get to a step to create a Pub/Sub subscription. While I can create the subscription without any error messages, I'm unable to find any areas/entities afterwards. It's like they're not being detected or loaded.

Great guide, 100% gonna add 2 proxy's to my home. just so the BT temp sensors that are the furthest away aren't being drained at a fast pace. the m5stack atoms are potentially the best use for this, combined with the proto-case, so you have a larger case that you can hang onto the wall.

Hey Chris, thanks for the great video as usual. Question: where did you see that HA is deprecating multi-PAN? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I used to write automations by hand. I wrote a whole set of JavaScript micro services to do all this for me. I got tired to keeping it up-to-date along with the Raspberry Pis I had all around the house to help with buttons and other device (no Zigbee nor Z-Wave, just Wi-Fi and Bluetooth). It took a bit, but I eventually converted everything over to Home Assistant, added Zigbee devices etc. What even got me started with Home Assistant was NUT. I setup a bunch of UPSs, and after a power outage, I had no clue what was going on. So I setup NUT on a bunch of Raspberry Pis, so I could monitor them, but I needed a server to accumulate all that data, and there was Home Assistant! I setup all the integrations just for fun, and ended up trying Zigbee. The rest is history. So for me, I'm surprised you used Node-RED. Seems way more complicated than writing the code myself, but after seeing it, I LOVE the UI compared to Home Assistant's. I miss being able to visually see complex automations and scripts the same way you see them in the Trace view. I wish that sort of UI existed for Home Assistant automations and scripts as well.

Whoa, [C] key for integrations? That's cool! I need to learn more about keyboard command in Home Assistant! The UI sucks so much to navigate. Sadly, I'm also on my phone a lot with it, but on the desktop, I'd like to be faster with it.

good evening i've taken a nvme ssd that i'm going to install on the argon v3 box when that's done, i'll have a sd card with raspbian bookworm on it, and a ssd sata + usb interface on which i have homeassistant. and of course an empty ssd nvme. so how can I run a dd command like : dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/nvme0 status=progress logically, everything should be easy to copy. so is it viable to do it this way? without errors....

What are you actually using that's looks like a different dashboard and with different IP (172.16.1.121) from Home Assistant Web UI but with same port number? I don't see dashboard like that anywhere.

Love the fact that it is made for HA. Would love to be able to choose between wifi, zigbee and wifi battery. The location of my plants wrt power points etc could dictate the choice. The fact that you have thought about the longevity of the product by coating the capacitative sensor is a thoughtful initiative. Nice product, please keep developing!

Ok, I have followed these steps and have gotten further but now (11/15/24) I get a popup which says Configure Cloud Pub/Sub topic. It shows the Device Access Console pub/sub topic name but when I hit submit I get "unknown error occured". Looking around the web I see that nest has yet again made changes and we now have to create a pub/sub topic in the google cloud console. I tried that but the sub name doesn't match what I see on the HA page. Any ideas? Maybe an update video?

What skin are you using on your home assistant as mine is the default and it's so bulky.

Although, I am facing an interesting issue where instead of it populating all of my devices as shown just after linking account to Home Assist 18:50, it prompts 'Configure Cloud Pub/Sub topic. I can confirm that the Pub/Sub topic name listed in HA is correct to what is shown in the Device Access Console, yet when I hit 'submit' it just throws 'Unknown error occurred'. For what it is worth. I just paid the $5 before watching this video and I even deleted my Device Access (nest) project and started over and still the same result.

Got through right to the end where it asked me to link home assistant to google and it failed. If I try the integration again it says in progress 🤔 can anyone help?

Hi Chris after this update cant view recording from frigate card and media frigate the record clips are there but can't view it loading for ever . Any configuration files to update, if go back to previous version everything works fine .Cheers

2 years later and this video is still very much up-to-date. There are some changes to how to prepare a SD card (RPI has own app) but 95% of the content is up to date. Thanks for reassuring me that what I am doing is correct, especially given HA backup restore process doesn't provide any visual aid.
