What is the difference between this opera Leonore and Fidelio ? Are they very much one in the same with some revisions ?

Amazing achievement! Mozart didn't write his first original piano concerto till he was 17(though he wrote many other things earlier---a symphony at 8, first opera at 12, etc) Still, this concerto shows that Beethoven was truly a prodigy as well, just not as well trained early on like Mozart was. It also shows that he had studied Mozart's music thoroughly as you hear a lot of Mozart's style in this one, more so than even the other early pieces he wrote. What surprised me about this concerto is the lack of a cadenza in the first movement, given how wonderful his cadenzas in the first movements of his other concertos were.

But Mozart's K 175 is a mature masterpiece which he used when he went to Vienna. Beethoven would venerate Mozart and Mozart predicted the glory of Beethoven.

@@JeremyNieboer I dont think Mozart "Predicted" anything by Beethoven. Beethoven studied Mozart assiduously and learned from him and in fact, copied many of his stylistic traits. The things Beethoven added to Mozart's style was a more dramatic style, a larger development section and bigger codas. He basically took the Mozart and Haydn model and expanded it---But Mozart and Haydn didn't "Predict" Beethoven, he learned from them and grew out of their styles, like all musicians do from older musicians.

Forse.

If in fact this is the first piano concert from Beethoven, it could be considered as a preparation for the later 1st or 2nd Big concertos, however it is really excellent work.

Lochnagar - Lyrics by George Gordon, Lord Byron Away, ye gay landscapes, ye gardens of roses In you let the minions of luxury rove Restore me the rocks where the snow-flake reposes Though still they are sacred to freedom and love Yet Caledonia, belov'd are thy mountains Round their white summits the elements war Though cataracts foam 'stead of smooth-flowing fountains I sigh for the valley of dark Lochnagar Ah! there my young footsteps in infancy wander'd My cap was the bonnet, my cloak was my plaid On chieftains long perish'd my memory ponder'd As daily I strode thro' the pine cover'd glade I sought not my home till the day's dying glory Gave place to the rays of the bright Polar star For fancy was cheer'd by traditional story Disclos'd by the natives of dark Lochnagar! Years have roll'd on, Lochnagar, since I left you! Years must elapse ere I tread you again Though nature of verdure and flow'rs has bereft you Yet still are you dearer than Albion's plain England, thy beauties are tame and domestic To one who has roamed over mountains afar O! for the crags that are wild and majestic The steep frowning glories of dark Lochnagar

If every work of Beethoven were lost and only the song adaptations survived, there would be more than enough evidence that here was ONE HELL of a musician. This is a masterpiece. And how did a man who spoke bad German, bad French and bad Italian and no English at all ever manage to get so deeply the sense and emotion of Byron's lines?

Unsere Zeit hastet in allem.

Preis ihm, Heil dir, Germania. 1. Germania, Germania, Thou stand'st amidst brightness now. Mist surrounded thy head, The old sun seemed to have been stolen, But God, the Lord, aided thee. He shall be praised, and Hail to thee, Germania. 2. Germania, Germania, Wie stehst du jetzt in Jugend da. Preis ihm, Heil dir, Germania. 2. Germania, Germania, Thou stand'st before us in full youth. It was Alexander who gave thee This second life, fresh and beautiful, When the Neva saw him depart. He shall be praised, and Hail to thee, Germania. 3. Germania, Germania, Wie stehst du jetzt gewaltig da. Preis ihm, Heil dir, Germania. 3. Germania, Germania, Thou stand'st before us formidably. Whenever German courage is called German and free, Gratitude shall be expressed for Frederick William. He was firm like a wall of iron. He shall be praised, Hail to thee, Germania. 4. Preis ihm, Heil dir, Germania. 4. Germania, Germania, How do the princes stand together. No trace of former discord, Faithful to the bonds of nature, This is how they come, from far and near. He shall be praised, and Hail to thee, Germania. 5. Germania, Germania, Wie stehst du ewig dauernd da. Was Sehnsucht einzeln still gedacht, Wer hat’s zu einem Ziel gebracht? Franz, Kaiser Franz - Viktoria! Preis ihm, Heil dir, Germania! 5. Germania, Germania, How dost thou stand forever and ever. What desire thought in every individual, Who brought it together? Francis, Emperor Francis - Victory! He shall be praised, and Hail to thee, Germania.
