Meolox here. The only reason I uploaded it in 19 parts is because way back when I uploaded it 14 years ago KZbin had a 10 minute per video limit there was no option but to split it into parts. Thanks for the full upload :) was surprised to see my old meolox username in the description

i can understand why he was so annoyed by crowd talking, red house painters songs are slow and very personal, hard to play when there are people talking or making noise.

Hell yeah, glad I found this. I saw Mark solo at the Circle Bar in New Orleans about ten years ago. He seemed a bit miffed to be playing such a small room to a bunch of nerdy hipster dudes. But the show was great. Mesmerizing beauty.

Im just about 16 years old and ive been infatuated by mark and his band for about a year now. Man, I’ve had plenty of ups and downs, just as anyone else has, but theres been too many memories to count where these songs were playing in my headphones giving me that same euphoric vibe im sure yall are all familiar with. Walking around the streets of my small town alone with my bag of shake and a tin can filled with holes sitting under bridges and watching the cars pass by. Makes me sad that not too many kids in this age of mindless distractions are ever gonna find these same feelings, But in the end it is what it is. Watching these old recordings and listening to the old demo tapes makes me really wish i could have been born just a couple decades earlier to be there and see it in the flesh. Marks music really helps me to get my mind off of all the little troubles of adolescence, and all the big troubles of childhood trauma, and all the other anxieties of the world ending up in flames, and to be fair, thats not even an irrational fear, with all of the stuff coming out about aliens being real, and the multiple threats of nuclear and world war, the fact you cant go outside without carrying because of how many crazy fucked up and drugged up people there are on the once-were safe streets these days, the bullshit propaganda on the news. I could go on and on, but whats the use. I hate the people in this world sometimes, but I love individuals. And mark was definitely an individual who defined and keeps defining much of my teenage years so far. Man, what a damn good musician. Cheers to all the people who still listen to this somewhat hidden and forgotten gem of human expression.

My guess is we are a lot of others experiencing the same emotions. Sometimes preferring live hidden an apart of the normal train of existence of our fucking developed society. I can't count the afternoon hours I just spend seating in my living room having tea or a beer and quietly listen a band's album. Actually, politics talk, footballers and internet influencers doesn't matter.

you'd think such introspective and beautiful music would be coming from a more humble and caring individual, but man it kinda seems like this guy is just an angry asshole from all that I've been seeing about him. Even in his old shows he seems super angry and self absorbed whenever he's not singing.
@electriczoo53102 жыл бұрын
i don't know mark personally, nor have i seen him live, but his attitude seems to largely depend on if he's having a bad day or not. there's a lot of humble shows and ones where he's having fun with the crowd (the recent performances of lovin you) but there's a lot where he's a real jerk. i think for someone who was doing 3 hour long shows back then with music he wrote, produced, and played himself (mark even recorded the bass parts on the albums, dunno where i read that), you have to be a bit of a narcissist. i still think mark's music is so high quality that i don't mind a lot of his faults, nobody really touches his best works with RHP/SKM. i'll say that live RHP (at least from bootlegs and footage) is a bit inconsistent though, the musical quality is all over the place. they were pretty good this night, i think doing 3 hours shows must've been brutal on everyone, mark's backing band are troopers

i still find it fucking crazy that the demo tape exists, this is the sort of tape you hear about but never expect to actually exist. you can literally hear mark's love of the smiths and other 80s alt music in the unused tracks. the lyrics are also just as good as any other early RHP, million and 8 things should've specifically had it's lyrics kept on shock me, love them most of the other uploads of it are gone but the demo mixes included are cool. mark definitely fucked around A LOT with the mixes for DCH the low quality and tape degradation that pitches things up is also kind of cool, gives mark a weird voice that makes him sound fittingly younger

So I know Old Ramon was apparently in limbo for years but I find it really interesting that River was performed here in ‘95, six years prior to the album’s release - something else interesting I think is that despite ocean beach coming out this year, they didn’t play anything from it and instead played songs from blue guitar which came out the next year (early versions I suppose) - really glad to see this all though
@AhYesIndeedItsFunTime2 жыл бұрын
very odd timing indeed
@samsetzer11112 жыл бұрын
also something to note- i read somewhere that none of the other band members play on blue guitar and that it was mean to be a solo record but the label forced his hand and called it an RHP record. not sure if it's true or not...
