If you just want to simply cut an image, using the Image Merge app will be simpler than this complex frame. Canva is very simple, please don't make things complicated. :(
@learncanvawithgreg
@learncanvawithgreg Күн бұрын
The Image Merge app will clip one image to the bounds of another, but it has limited free uses before you are forced to a pro account. The custom frame methods I teach can be done with free software and open up a lot more creativity and flexibility for users who want to be able to create their own custom frames that are reusable and will work with different images within the frame (and you can repositions within the frame). Also, the process is not much more complicated than the Image Merge App which forces users to upload PNG images they will use. But, I never push one method of doing things on anyone, it's really about whatever workflow works best for the each individual user and this is going to obviously vary across users. If the Image Merge app is works for your needs, that's great! cheers, Greg

I have 1000 designs in a team account that I want to move to a personal pro account. I can't do this individually or I will lose my mind. Has Canva figured out a bulk transfer yet? And thank you Greg for your wisdom!

Did you see this update (kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIe8ZaNnbddkgqM) Sonja? Canva announced towards the end of last week that they allowing individuals on the old teams plan to keep their old plan at the old pricing and NOT forcing them into the new pricing model. That may mean you don't need to do anything! If you were still migrating plans for some reason, the hope would be that all your design files migrate with you and are left unchanged, however if for some reason you are migrating from a teams to a personal account it would still be worth reaching out to Canva support just to make sure you won't lose access to any designs. In my opinion it would make a lot of sense for Canva to come up with a way for users to migrate entire folders from one account to another, but as of yet I don't believe that's an option. But fingers cross the new announcement from Canva stating they aren't forcing the price change on older team plans means you don't have to do anything. Best of luck! cheers, Greg

one tip to better AI images: don't use AI respect real artists
@learncanvawithgreg
@learncanvawithgreg 5 күн бұрын
Hi Henrique, I'm right there with you on respecting and supporting real artists which is why I stress in this video for AI users to use AI in a responsible, concientious way, and as a means to amplify their own creativity and unique work rather than as a means to replace it. As with all technological advancements I believe AI has lots of positive applications, but also the potential to be abused and used in unethical ways. If we could put AI back in the bottle, there's certainly an argument to be made that we should, but that's just not possible so I think the hope has to be that collectively we come up with smart ways to regulate AI, its uses, and to protect artists. It's tough, because I spent some time as a wedding photographer and I certainly understand the negative impacts the digital photography and smartphone revolution have had on the professional photography world with increased competition and decreased perceived value of work. But, there is no going back and, as with all things, photographers and artists will have to continually adapt with the times and figure out ways to stand out and bring unique value to their work while as a society we figure out ways to protect and celebrate them and the creative process. I think a big part of art is learning how to infuse part of yourself into your work. Certainly, I believe there will still be those who will continue to figure out how to do this and, yes, even those who do so with AI somehow as part of their workflow. This is a complex subject. I certainly don't have all the answers. But with so many AI tools out there and becoming integrated with software like Canva, rather than ignore their existence, I will continue to encourage people to use these tools in a thoughtful and ethical way. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Thoughtful and respectful discussion always welcomed. cheers, Greg

Can the images generated on Canva be used for commercial use?
@learncanvawithgreg
@learncanvawithgreg 5 күн бұрын
My best advice would be, when in doubt, contact Canva support with specific usage rights questions and/or consult with a lawyer. But, in general I think the answer is yes as long as you adhere to Canva's Content License Agreement, www.canva.com/policies/content-license-agreement/ and AI product terms, www.canva.com/policies/ai-product-terms/. A few basic things to consider would be: 1. Canva Pro and Free Users: If you're using Canva Pro or Canva Free, AI-generated images made with the "Text to Image" feature can be used commercially, as long as they don't infringe on copyright or trademark laws. Canva's license allows for the commercial use of most content, but it's essential to check their terms periodically for any updates. 2. Unique Creations: AI-generated images are often unique, but if they use pre-existing elements (such as fonts, stock photos, or templates), those elements might have their own licensing rules. Ensure that any non-AI content in your design complies with Canva's licensing agreements for commercial use. 3. Responsibility of Use: Canva places responsibility on the user to ensure that any generated content does not violate intellectual property laws or infringe on others' rights. 4. Limitations: Be cautious with images that contain famous logos, brands, or real people, as Canva's AI may generate content that includes these elements, which could lead to intellectual property violations. And, again, if you find yourself with questions about a specific usage case then you should contact Canva support and/or consult with a lawyer with relevant experience. Best of luck! cheers, Greg

If you aren't seeing the option for detaching the image from the background then that's likely a sign that you didn't successfully end up with a frame and instead you just have an image in Canva. It can be frustrating when this happens, but I'll help if I can. You are attempting to create the frame in Illustrator? The process is the same on a mobile device, but I find it slightly more tricky with a smaller screen and without mouse click options. But, it certainly still can be done. Instead, of using Ctrl + click, instead make sure you have the layer you want to load as a selection highlighted in the layers menu to the right, then from the "Select" menu in the top menu you can choose "Load Selection" and by default it should have what you need in the Channel dropdown...it will save something like "Layer X Transparency". Just click okay and you should load all the pixels in the current layers as a selection. Then you can proceed to the channel --> Selection to Path steps and the other steps. Hope this helps. cheers, Greg

GREAT VIDEO AND VERY HELPFUL!! 🙂 I'm new to end screens and I just have 1 question... If I already have a video uploaded on my KZbin channel, then I can't add my end screen that I made in Canva?
@learncanvawithgreg
@learncanvawithgreg 19 күн бұрын
That's correct. Once uploaded, then you can't really edit a KZbin video. If you add end screen elements via KZbin Studio then they will just appear over the last 20 (you can adjust to between 5 and 20) seconds of your video. This can be okay, but it's not ideal if elements end up blocking other important things onscreen at that time. For this reason, end screens where you have silence and appropriate text/calls to action, etc. are recommended. You could, of course, take down a video and then upload a new version with the end screen at the end, but that is NOT a recommended option IF you have a KZbin video that has some traction and is getting views as you're starting over if you upload a new video. Best of luck! cheers, Greg

@learncanvawithgreg
@learncanvawithgreg 25 күн бұрын
Usually, there are multiple options from copying elements from one page to another. If on laptop/desktop, Click on the element to select it. Next click on the 3 dots (...) that should show in the contextual menu that appears above the selected item and from this menu choose "Copy" or use the Ctrl/Cmd + C keyboard shortcut to copy. On the page where you are going to paste it (if on desktop/laptop), right mouse click and choose "Paste" or use the Ctrl/Cmd+V keyboard shortcut to paste. On mobile, you would select, use the three dots (...) to bring up the next menu, choose copy, and then on the page where you want to paste it, select the entire page (will see blue outline around entire page), then use the 3 dots and the paste option.

it isn't allowing me to click the path button at the bottom of photopea, then when i click on current path under vector mask drop down, it is removing my image altogether and just leaving a transparent background. Any tips on this?
@learncanvawithgreg
@learncanvawithgreg 27 күн бұрын
Hi, Tina. Yes, if you do not have a path created and active then when you do the Layer->Vector Mast->Current Path step then things will disappear. The key is making sure you have those 1st steps completed. If you aren't being allowed to click on the "Selection to Path" icon under the Paths tab then chances are you do not have an active layer with something selected. Return to the Layers tab and 1) Makes sure the Layer is selected/highlighted in the layers menu. All you have to do is click on it to ensure this...so if you are working with the "Background" layer then just click on it, otherwise click on whatever layer contains the subject/item you are using to create the path/mask. Next, 2) You want to Ctrl + click on this layer to load it as a selection (on a Mac it would be Cmd + click). You should see a dotted line appear around the item/subject in the main window. You also could load the selection via the top menu, Select -> Load Selection, click OK. With the subject selected now you should be able to continue with the other steps. Paths -> Selection to path and then Layer ->Vector Mask->Current Path. Hope this helps, just let me know if you still end up stuck and have more questions. cheers, Greg

Yes John, this video was recorded back in October of last year and the Canva UI is always undergoing changes, the most substantial of which came back in May of this year. The "Magic Switch" menu item how now just been replaced with a "Resize" menu item which intuitively is a name that just makes a little more sense I think. But under this resize menu you essentially have a pretty similar interface and all the same options you had under the old magic switch menu -- the ability to resize your design to different content types/dimensions & the ability to translate your text/design into other languages. Best of luck. cheers, Greg
