Commented on your earlier video. Have a dump trailer so will make some ramps to back up into that and dump. Have to take away.
@MurrayHomestead5 күн бұрын
Taking the clippings away would be nice. They compost surprisingly fast, but I still have a small mountain! I've been putting about half of them in my chicken coop, and they make short work if it.
@michaellane13165 күн бұрын
Finally I find someone that has similar issue with their lawns/pasture. I have two pastures, now no ponies but have been trying to recoup them. Grass is longer in my case so it'll take some time to get it down a bit shorter. As with the raking.....LOL Have done way too much of that over that past 17 years. Good workout for sure. Like you, I windrow if I am doing pickup. Used to mow every month with horses. Now with no horses, I try to mow every week and most of the time, I don't have to pick the grass up. The down side to all of this over the years is, my base is dead, meaning it isn't nutrient rich anymore. This will lead me to eventually thatching both pastures, possibly some reseeding and spraying again. Generally I spray 3 times a year. Early spring, mid summer and then end of season. We are on irrigation water so limited to water supply. April to first of October. Since we are on irrigation water, we end up with all sorts of weed species in our pasture, hence, spraying. The fall spray I spray extra heavy to downsize any weeds we've acquired which then gives up a pretty good pasture grass to start the season. Appreciate the info. Have been trying to decide which one to get. The only downside to these sweepers of lesser value are the wheels with the plastic gears. Looks like that will be an extra set and brushes for future replacements.
@MurrayHomestead5 күн бұрын
I am highly considering sheep for that same reason! Little lawnmowers, haha. Having to rotate them is my only apprehension. The only issue I've had with the wheels so far is that longer grass stems can get wrapped around the axle. I only had to clean it once this year, but it's definitely worth looking out for.
I got the same grill last year for my father's day present from my wife also. And I luv my grill.

Great video brother!! Did I see correctly that the temperature control goes up in 5 degree increments? Any issues with holding temp?
@MurrayHomestead7 күн бұрын
Thank a bunch! We appreciate it! Yes indeed, it is in 5 degree increments. I have found the it holds temperature very well. It will overshoot by a few degrees as it tries to maintain the temperature, but it quickly goes back to your set temperature. More than good enough in my opinion. Thanks for watching!

That's helpful information but an electric hoist is much cheaper and more useful than a MoJack.
@MurrayHomestead15 күн бұрын
They could be, depending on your situation. I don't have a reliable anchor point, so working off of the ground was safer/easier for me.
@priayief15 күн бұрын
@@MurrayHomestead Of course, if you have nowhere to install a hoist, a MoJack is a handy option.

IMO, depending on what you're cooking. I would keep that upper rack handy. Ribs IMO should go on the upper rack, and i usually cook pork butts on the upper rack with a water pan. Nice grill, and happy smoking! Just got into this hobby about a year now myself. Always learning for sure.
@MurrayHomestead20 күн бұрын
That makes sense. I'm sure it could come in handy. For now, I enjoy the freedom of movement. Happy smoking and I hope we both keep learning!

I have a 23 HP zero turn and I have a similar issue with it bogging down and what i learned was it was less an issue with HP or torque but more about issues with being able to discharge after it was cut. I raise my chute to help but it still bogs down occasionally. I bought this same yard sweeper and have really been pleased with it. Great video.

Not wanting to spoil the party but a strong word of abundant caution: BEWARE OF PIT BOSS/DANSONS FOR ANY CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!! I purchased a Pit Boss Champion barrel smoker ten months ago and it has decayed and rusted to the point the hinges on the firebox door are seizing and their so called FIVE YEAR parts warranty means garbage in every sense. Sarcastic and rude is all I can tell you thus far. They are criminals and pushing the legal boundary now so I would absolutely boycott these jokers. You will (eventually) thank me.
@MurrayHomesteadАй бұрын
Not sure what to say here. I haven't had any reason to deal with customer support yet. That being said, I've had the smoker for over a month now and I haven't had any issues whatsoever. I actually like the finish so much that I called it out on the review. In my opinion, it will last. As you say, time will tell.

Don't you find the skin is a little rubbery when you low and slow it ? I feel hot and fast is just better for chicken
@MurrayHomesteadАй бұрын
I understand what you're saying. That is indeed usually the case, but the way I do it, I crank the temperature at the end. It's definitely not "fried" at the end, but you do get a nice snap from the skin. You can see at the very end when I pull the meat apart, about 11:50, the skin tears, not stretches.
