My respect for this man diminished after he could not see how good Caitlin Clark was

Good stuff, Brett. The transactional vs transformational piece definitely made me think. We are taught to value transformational, but helps me see transactional through a different lens.

Yeah? And Caitlin Clark wasn’t gonna be good enough against the “physicality “ of the WNBA? I lost quite a bit of respect for Geno after what he said about C C ! Her rookie year stats are better than TARAUSI ‘s

Work with some hockey coaches / players and I think they will give you a lot of different answers. Very very team focused to the point they told they have no personality. Differences in sport are interesting. Love your content always learn a lot. Happy some new stuff is out! Thanks Brett and team.

I love the man but that was rambling nonsense. It really took Diana to have Geno understand the purpose of that time out he called? But he did avoid the original question didn't he.

This was after CC dropped 45pts against NCSU and they had already lost to UConn the week before so the emotions were at an all time high for the team. I’m not gonna comment with 100% confidence here because I’m only seeing clips of these videos, and not the entire thing, but I’m assuming that the clip that they had as a team was caused by a disagreement within the team that if Caitlin had not taken those individual shots and instead passed the ball more, they would’ve won the game. Caitlin’s not perfect, I’m sure she has her own set of flaws on the court and off. I do agree with Kate to an extent in which where if you share the load, you rid yourself of the pressure you put upon yourself and give yourself a little breather to refocus. However, I also understand where Caitlin’s coming from and it’s completely valid, but I think her competitive edge is what sets her apart. I’m predicting that in Caitlin’s eyes, she’s trying to win and she will do whatever it takes to get the team there- but to her teammates, they don’t think she’ll be able to do that on her own. I’ve always personally believed that Caitlin’s competitive edge is what brought her to where she is, but I also sometimes worry that it could be the very reason of her losses. These talks are tough, AND uncomfortable, but they are needed. They need to seek discomfort and put themselves in a position where they have no choice but to talk about it. No team has gotten to greatness without having uncomfortable conversations with one another. Even A’ja Wilson had a rough pep talk with Kelsey Plum during their 2022 Championship run and told her to get her act together and get shots. Look where they are now. Back to back champions since the LA Sparks. People need to understand that these girls, or any team for that matter, don’t have to be best friends off the court but they do have to have mutual respect for one another and be able to call each other out when they need to. That’s how you create a solid foundation in the first place.

This is so odd… he’s shaming her for being mad, which is a normal experience but then shaming her for not believing in her teammates more? This doesn’t make sense. Next time she gets mad, which she still frequently does (understandably!), she doesn’t know what to do with it because he hasn’t taught her to communicate it differently…

The IOWA team had more players drafted to the WNBA than any of the winners team of USC or LSU, but her teams sucks and only her is great? Kate Martin literally made to the most difficult roaster on the WNBA and gets alot of playing minutes in the back-to-back champs. Caitlin was the star, but she wasn't alone. That's why they lost boths finals, they focused so much in developing CC game that forgot the talent they had. IOWA wouldn't had passed UCONN without Martin or Stuelske that showed up when was most needed. However, Bluder still decided that CC need to do it all in the final game, just like the year before. The result? They lost AGAIN.

that’s not at all why they lost both finals

IOWA had more players drafted to the WNBA than the winners teams of LSU or South Carolina, but she didin't have help, right? Hannah Stuelske, that also made part of that team, will be drafted in the first round easily if she wants to continue with basketball.
@mkdugan810918 күн бұрын
@@soph0463 LSU is understandable because they had a better constructed roster and a viable gameplan against iowa. But acting as though SC isn't a full blueblood is ridiculous. These rosters jam packed with 4-5 stars. Caitlin and Hannah were the only 4+ stars on their team. Nobody except Iowa fans believed Kate Martin was actually going to make a roster and she probably wont be on one in two years unless the expansion draft saves her.
@soph046317 күн бұрын
@@mkdugan8109 till 4 min to the end of the game IOWA were winning, because of points that Sydney affolter and Kate Martin had made, what killed IOWA that game was their mentality and their lack of bench. The starters of IOWA could and were winning against the starters of SC, but the bench of SC was fundamental that day while the bench of IOWA was inefficient.
@soph046317 күн бұрын
@@mkdugan8109 Kate played solid minutes before her injury and was one of the first players off the bench. However, after her injury and the break, something changed. Still, I doubt the team will let her go anytime soon, considering she performed well in the first half of the season and how much the fans love her. People forget that she was a rookie on a two-time championship team. Nika Muhl, who was a higher draft pick, got waaay less minutes on a weaker team. Megan Gustafson, an Olympian for Spain, was also getting fewer minutes than Kate during the first half of the season. Considering she was the 18th pick, Kate actually played a lot. She was never going to be a starter on the Aces- I can count on less that one hand the rookies that would get more playing on the Aces. Becky Hammon is known for limiting bench and rookie minutes, look at KB, but Kate even started 2 games already this season. People need to calm down and recognize that Kate got more playing time than most rookies would on a 2 time championship that was a contender.
@mlouise18286 ай бұрын
Kate at this time had a little jealousy, but if not for CC lets be real you r team will not win big ten or made people watch you, Monica won't be drafter because those assist made her look even good.
