In 2024 8 GB microSD is TOO SMALL. Recommend 32-64 GB as a absolute minimum I just went though the trouble of unzipping to 'not enough space' then getting balena ETCHER to clone/copy to a 16 GB, then onto a 64 GB SD Then had to run command in terminal sudo raspi-config then Advanced Options, then A1 Expand Filesystem (to use the entire storage space available /unallocated)

OCTOBER 2024 Choices for Linux are now Arduino IDE 2.3.3 AppImage 64 bits (X86-64) ZIP file 64 bits (X86-64) Since zip is preinstalled on my current PI OS, I will use it Attempting to use the GUI, presents you with insufficient credentials error (but if I could it would go like this) In the GUI, I head over to the Downloads folder and Right Click the file, Extract To...(navigate to the opt folder via [+Other Locations>Computer>opt] then Press Open (bottom right corner), changes no options in the Extract pop-up window. - - Being forced to use the terminal method, follow the instructions at timestamp 2:30 unzip filename((d0t))zip

So..... Raspberry Pi 5 can ONLY install Arduino 1.8.19 (Legacy) Linux ARM 64 bits The processor is ARM based and can NOT use the new 2.3.3 version which is strictly x86 or x64 based Arduino have SPECIFICALY NOT made a compatible ARM version of IDE

Thanks for this. Is this the same for RPi4? And, have you figured a way to shut down the pi and then machine (lights/monitor) after the pi shuts down? (A one button solution) Thanks
