Thank you for sharing, I want to start learning music, and playing a guitar, can you recommend some guitars and equipment needed to try to replicate what Jimmi did in 1967? Jimmi was so much a rock God !
@15MinuteGuitar6 ай бұрын
Sure. But first a warning: don't go chasing Jimi's tone of his studio recordings - there's simply too many variables - use his live sound as your reference. Secondly, remember the tone is in the fingers, so buying equipment is only a small part of the equation. Thirdly, use the volume pot of your guitar as a tonal control - Jimi utilised the many colours avialbable from 4-7 to wide open, and pickup selector too. Fourth, and finally you can try a MIM Hendrix strat, a mini fuzz-face, a blues driver, a Vox Wah and a tube amp on clean channel. (This is the set-up I use). But Joe Bonamassa did a video recently with some other gear that is also excellent. kzbin.info/www/bejne/en7Hi5RjjbegsNE

I picked hendrix songs out 40 years ago, this was one of his better ones, the intro is powerful and charges right into the thick of it. if you listen carefully ....I think some of the intro is done with a slide. I switched to keyboard 20 yrs ago, i find it a lot easier to compose , I couldn't compose for beans on the guitar.

I got the exact same bass but for some reason the strings are very sensitive and basically as soon as I touch them they make noise I'm new to playing bass so idk if it's on me or the guitar 😅

This could be a grounding/wiring issue with the bass or the amp. Make a video if the issue and send it to support, ask if this is normal.

The main diversion of Sheraton from the 335 line is the maple neck instead of mahogany. It is reflected in the brighter tone generally. Although I had fallen in love with EPI 339 recently and your review is only enhancing this feel.

I think I need to put that chord progression on a loop and just spend 5/10 minute improvising over it just to get used to be confident of getting out of 'the box', then maybe do other chord progressions but use the same principle. One issue I have after doing this a couple of times is once I find a note that 'works' I get drawn to using it again each time around. And trying to consciously use a chromatic note on the 'and' is like rubbing your stomach and patting your head!
@15MinuteGuitar Жыл бұрын
Sometimes, at this stage it can help to “compose” on paper first. Write out “1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &” 8 times then mark underneath which beats you will play on and which you won’t - this solves the problem of thinking of the notes and thinking of the timing in the moment. Your own preprepared guides will help you build confidence and work as a stepping stone to ‘in-the-moment” instant composition. I hope this helps, Rob.

I didn’t know that Keith, I reckon they’d do well with some pop-up “try-before-you-buy” testing stations for those of us outside SYD.

I’m guessing that would put prices up… they have a 100 day return policy (I think). I have 6 of their guitars always picked up at the warehouse but never played till I got home because I’d be too embarrassed to play in front of anyone else 😂

Very good analysis and demonstration. I find Hybrid Picking, an easy and efficient way of solving awkward string changes and skipping. It also opens up new, and creative musical possibilities that would be near impossible, and unintuitive with strict Alternate Picking. Thanks
@Fastlane05 Жыл бұрын
I was always told this is called "Economy" picking. For anyone looking to increase speed and precision, focus on this and get it down good before moving on.
@15MinuteGuitar Жыл бұрын
Strictly speaking economy picking uses more of a sweep "through" the strings for maximum efficiency and economy. My pick strokes in this "contextual picking" are not those, they are far closer to "regular" pick strokes. With economy picking this pattern would likely be picked D-D-U-U-U-U-D or D-D-U-D-U-U-D using the single motion to push through the strings.
