I’m not impressed with the 60fps look, and over exposure. I didn’t get the look as if it was shot with true anamorphic. $650 isn’t bad but since it didn’t look anamorphic to begin with, it’s high.

I know obviously the selling point for this lens is AF.. but I’d like to know for manual focus- is it focus by wire or is it a traditional physical manual focus?

Do you have to switch the aps-c s35 mode with the lens ind? Can you film in 4k on the fx3?

Great question. I did not used ASPC mode pn FX3, which I was really surprised to. Only 10% of the footage had slight vignette (which I can’t explain myself why) that can be simply covered with color grading!

Wish this were shot at 24 or 25fps. Seeing what looks like 60fps not slowed down just takes so much away from what would be great shots to me. Less natural and less immersive. Great stuff nonetheless

Iskreno nisam nesto odusevljen. Sam osecaj nije anamorfik , nema zakrivljenja a i bokeh daje neke cudne krugove. Vrlo vrv da je zbog 1.33 squieza. Videcu kako radi na Super 35 ali ne verujem da ce biti nesto drugacije. Deluje kao neka Sigma vise. Kojoj kad dodas i Prism Lens Blue Flare filter prakticno dobijes isto. Veci Anamorph daje bilo koji Vintage Cheap objektiv . Helios stari sa istim ovim filterom ili Helios 44-2 Anamorfake. Sto onaj Ukrajinac prodaje i imam ga. Super je sto su isli na Autofocus ali nije to to jos uvek. Moozda u nekoj buducnosti i naprave nesto. Jer da bi bilo anamorhic mora da bude anamorphic. Jer se zna kako to izgleda. I naravno nije za svaciji ukus.

@@digitalvertigo515 nemogu da kažem da se n slažem sa tvoje mišljenje, nema neki veoma poseban karakter, kao helios i ostale objektive. I sa coating nisam bio previše oduševljen, retko kad useo da dobijem onaj flare tako da neznam šta su ciljali kad su hteli da naprave ovaj objektiv sem autofocus, je i je odlična idea, ali samo to i ostaje. 💪

@@nickrstic Upravo tako. Ja podrzavam Sirui ideju u pravljenju anamorph. objektiva koji su dostupni po povoljnim cenama i bas mi je bilo drago kad sam video najavu. Ocekivao da napokon eto autofocus i na ovoj vrsti objektiva. Sto ce olaksati rad u spotovima i da ne treba focus puller itd. Ali na zalost kad sam pogledao tvoj video video sam da su daleko od toga za sada, Takodje i flare isto slab cak i na njihovom official reklamnom videu. Tako da...

@@digitalvertigo515 moje mišljenje je da kao i svaka nova linija, uvek se ceka na V2, dok oni izbace FF verziju sa autofocus i da uzmu feedbacks dosta će da postignu. Ja sam imao beta verziju, i sve feedbacks sam im dao. Već mi poslali nov firmware za AF i veoma je bolji. Rejli su mi da će i na coating da rade da bude malo slabiji i jači flerovi. Videcemo. Sve u svemu, za ove pare, lens je brutalan!

@@CartyCantDance It’s definitely not pronounced as a 1.6x lens.. everyone has their taste. For example, I don’t like the 1.6 because the field of view is just way too broad giving me a huge “black bars” aspect ratio.

Same problem with first Sirui series. 1.33 is not enough to get anamorphic look.

@@nickrstic a 1.6x lens is meant for open gate shooting. Use it with a 3:2 ratio and it'll look great! Using one with a 16:9 ratio is using the wrong tool for the job and will of course lead to less than desirable results, like using crop glass on a FF camera. Anyway loved the video, you nailed some great shots in there! Personally I think anamorphic is nice even without tons of character, if you're aiming for a widescreen end result it's nice to achieve that "natively" instead of having to crop.

@@wo-ai-xjp there is no a huge difference, I agree, 1.6x would’ve definitely been better. Also the lens coating is strong, giving even more subtle lens flares. Someone might like it someone may not.

So sad it doesn’t seem like there will be an L mount version. When it makes the most sense since Panasonic has the best anamorphic support. I guess i will wait for Blazar to release the apex series and hope they release an L mount version.

they wouldn't be very close? 40mm is quite wide, you'll be within 1.5-2m from everything you're shooting, 85 is the opposite, small rooms will be nogo, bigger rooms will be okay but corner to corner. 85 I'd say is fine outdoors though

@@ryancooper3629 Sure but my main point is that you should choose based on the scenario you're aiming at so to speak. I have the Sirui Nightwalker 35mm for my FX30 and that is perfect for very close up kinda work but very wide for any scenario where you're not basically standing next to the person or thing you're filming. So if you have the space to run an 85 it might be better since you can shoot a "larger scene" with it without it looking weird. You just can't get "up close and personal" in the same way with it like with a 40mm. The aspect of things changes a lot because of compression you get with an 85mm. You get more stuff in the same shot.

@@noth606 I know you are trying to be helpful but I'd put forward the assertion that these are specialty lenses that you buy to create a specific look. Anyone who is just thinking of it in terms of "how much fits in the frame" probably shouldn't be looking at either of them tbh. Especially not an anamorphic. In my case, I already have glass to cover focal ranges from 24mm to 500mm. Choosing either of these lenses has nothing to do with framing. Its about adding new creative tools to my arsenal.

@@noth606 Im talking based on my own experience. It worked perfectly fine. Rarely I did found some vignetting that I can’t explain why that happened since 90% of the footage was perfectly fine. And those 10% I was easily able to cover with color grading. I do understand why they marketed as Apsc.

@@nickrstic Ehm, based on what you said I'm going to say you don't know what "perfectly fine" means, or simply the word "perfectly". Or you simply like misusing it, one or the other. "Perfectly" means 100% flawless. Not 90%, not 99% or even 99,99% - it means 100% - it means it could not possibly be better.

Fam! Thanks for watchng. I am going to give you my honest opinion about the lens. Altrought I had this lens for several weeks now, and currenrtly in beta version software, the AF was okay, not comparable to GM series, but it definitely worked okay. Sirui told me that with the offical product, the AF will improve. The built qualty is exellent, and it's very light weight. You can mount it on DJI RS3 mini and Fx3 without any problems. The sharpenss was something that on the other hand left me speachless. it's probably the one of the sharpest lens sirui has ever made in Anamorphic category. Overall this lens, for it's price it's definitely worht it. As an anamorphic lover myself, i would've definitely bought it with my own money. Well done Sirui.

This is an amazing video, Nikola! I have the X-T3 and an X-S10, and I was thinking that I would use the X-S10 for video and the X-T3 for stills, but now you have me questioning this idea of mine, which is a good thing. I guess I was thinking this because I was getting into using vintage film lenses, but now I have three Fuji lenses: 10-24 f4, 16-80 f4 and the 55-200 f4. I figure I could used these on the X-T3 for travel videos when my wife and I travel. The only issue is that they are not fast lenses for low light usage. Anyway, thanks for your beautiful video, and good luck in life! The praise you are getting is earned in my opinion! Ciao from British Columbia, Canada!

I would def go with 75, as it’s 50mm FF equivalent. The 50mm is just not as tight as you might think from 35.

Hello. Which lens did you like better: 75mm or 50mm? Which one would you recommend?

Great question; it depends on what you mainly shot. In my opinion, 35mm is best for generally all; it's wide but not too wide. In the alternative, if you want a second suggestion, 50mm is my second favorite, and it's sharper than 35mm. 75mm I used it the least!
