If companies want things back to normal, they themselves should go back to normal. Walmart can stop replacing cashiers with self checkout and have more people in the store helping customers and stocking shelves. They want to continue giving bare minimum but have everyone else go back to full effort.

I got 0 anxiety on job interviews, because I am the best at my job. If they don’t pick me it’s because they don’t have the money to pay me, or they need someone dumb enough to stick with their poor decision making strategy.

Very unlikely that a hiring manager would want to "waste their time" if they already have a finalist

So what to answer when asked "where do you see yourself in 5 or 10yrs?"
Well, I had an interview today and I bombed it hard. It was so bad to me that I considered cutting off the meeting call and never trying again. I don’t know how it will turn out. Nonetheless, it’s all good.

I had my resume revised using AI and used an ATS based evaluation app to evaluate and rate my resume. My original got a 48% rating. I went back and forth telling AI to adjust my resume based on what comments I got from the ATS system and by the time I got to 68% rating, my resume looks great but even I dont recognize my resume anymore. Whats worse is, this was as far as I can go with the free version and if I wanted to get a higher rating I need to upgrade to a paid version. What BS this is! This is the reason why I say that this type of s@$t is making HR Lazy and will never end up with great candidates because while the resume looks awesome, the candidate will end up failing the interview in the end. A resume is supposed to reflect a candidates work experience and how it will align with the companys requirements. If the company wants to hear more then they request for an interview. What happens here is that great candidates are "weeded out" just because they did not put a keyword or they did not wow the reader with high faluting words. Frustrating.

A lot of times it’s the hiring manager’s bias on what they think is a good fit. My manager is notorious for hiring slackers because they were able to bull$hit him during the interview process but is not even capable of doing the basics of the job. I think he is aware which is why he strategically hires a couple of workers he knows will pick up the slack!

@@CareerShakers no problem! a lot of my colleagues that got laid off (including myself) have been struggling to find a new job, and we always hear about how bad the market is and how we're all competing against ex-FAANG employees who have also been laid off. not sure if you have a video like it, but it'd be great if you could share tips on how to navigate the current job market, stand out, gain confidence and not lose hope, etc.

I'm a bit confused by some of the points discussed. How do we know which companies are using the ATS? If a bunch of companies are saving past uploads for 6 months or more, then still scoring and ranking the resumé, how should applicants handle resumé updates once new skills or certifications are attained? Should they reapply or avoid companies using the ATS? Lastly, is it better to apply for jobs via job boards or directly via the company websites?
@CareerShakersАй бұрын
These are great questions. 1. All companies use an ATS unless they collect applications via email 2. Since all companies have an ATS, that means all resumes you ever upload are saved in their system, but as you apply for new jobs with your updated resume, it will be uploaded to your profile and rescored. 3. You can't avoid companies that use ATS because all companies use them 4. It's usually better to apply via the company website but all applications go the same place, the ATS

Great video! So it seems like freelancers/contractors should always tell the recruiter their rate first? What if I have a higher rate, can they submit my profile anyway? Or will they be hesitant to do so since my rate is higher ?

Yes you should be honest about what you want to be paid but you can also ask them for their opinion on your rates. But you shouldn't take a pay cut either
