do you still have access to this document? I couldn't find it in CC Connected this year

@katellir.33 I have just uploaded it to CC Connected in the forum under "Shared Resources." You should be able to find it by searching Cycle 1 Week 11 Science.

Where did you find the handout with the coins. Do you have a link. Thanks so much for your help and video!!
@professorlatimer8 ай бұрын
You are welcome! I found the penny handout on the old CC Connected, I believe, and unfortunately, I was unable to find the file on the new CC Connected. Since I did not create the sheet, I'm not sure I have permission to share it. However, I did find a handout for Week 19 science on the new CC Connected from username "tiffany.wilsonvillecc". She has a pdf on the forum and shared files called "Cycle 3_Tutor Book Cover Page and Weeks 19-24.pdf". Page 16 of that document has a coin handout you could use in class. I hope that helps!

Great explanation but it would have been great to see the reaction in process to be able to troubleshoot what's going on with mine at home
@professorlatimer8 ай бұрын
Thank you! What seems to be happening when you try it? What we ended up doing on Community Day was skipping the tissue part. We put the baking soda inside the balloon first, then the water and vinegar in the bottle. We put the balloon over the top of the bottle and dumped the baking soda that was inside the balloon into the bottle and watched the reaction and the balloon inflate. I've done it with the tissue in the past and still had good results. You could try adding more vinegar and less water too.
@loricoffey4948 ай бұрын
We haven't been able to get the dish soap to make a bubble. We're doing Bubbler #93 which is very similar to the balloon experiment. Your suggestions are very helpful and I will try them, such as using a balloon to capture gas instead of dish soap. Secondarily, a co-tutor had the same suggestion to up the quantities of reactive substances to fill the volume better. Will try that too. 😊

We did this experiment in our CC classes today and it ended up being 2 cups. Total dud. Any reason why it wouldn't have worked?
@professorlatimer9 ай бұрын
We had mixed results for this experiment on our community day as well. It is a bit of a tricky experiment to get to "work." My recommendations are to make sure your jar is dry before you add your liquids and then measure your liquids VERY carefully. Even then, it is a very minor difference in the heights. You can also try increasing the amount of liquid to 3 cups total instead of 2 (1-1/2 cups of water and 1-1/2 cups of rubbing alcohol). You might notice more of a difference then. Sometimes experiments don't go as planned, but that is also a good opportunity to ask good questions about what might have happened or what could be changed next time. Sometimes that's how great discoveries are made when an experiment doesn't go as planned.

@professorlatimer Жыл бұрын
Hi, Tara! You can find the science scripts I show in the video in the weekly Sandbox E-zines on CC Connected - Foundations (tab) - Learning Center. The science script for C3 Week 1 is on pages 27-28 of the Sandbox document for Week 1. I believe that each week's Sandbox contains these science scripts.
