I agree with SI. Pearson was the greatest NASCAR track driver. Most consistent winner by far. Racing’s unsung hero.

I never really paid much attention to it but is any of Lake Norman still there? I was just a young kid but remember Tom Pistone coming to Catamount Stadium and Thunder Road in Vermont.

I know n by no means am I saying it is ok to break the law.PERIOD!!.it's my opinion and I'm entitled to it .Revinewers made a lot of kids go without food. They were only trying to dam eat n out shoes on their kids feet. Now u can but moonshine at our local beer store for little $ .idk how those old Revinewers could be proud back then. What u did was a many child went to bed hungry.Yes it was the law but I don't wanna hear I'm just doing my job at the expense of really poor but good ppl and the children suffered because of it .Yes it's your job n yrs all laws must be OBEYED! These old Revinewers are proud of starving kids n those days .

I was there as a 5-year-old kid with my dad. I love Riverside! We would go there for all the NASCAR, IMSA, Champ Car/Indy car, CanAm, and IROC races! Great great memories as a kid. One time I took my little BMX bike and at the end of the race, while my dad was talking to drivers in the pits, I rode the entire long course, all 3.3 miles. The turn 6 hill was steep for a 10 yr old. But I was smiling ear to ear! The loooong downhill back straight was awesome. Took me about 30 mins. Brings a tear.

I only got to get out there the last few years it was open, for an Alfa Romeo club day, a WERA motorcycle event, and the last ever NASCAR event there won by Rusty Wallace I think. What a great track, for sure.

I wonder if Hamilton got a nice bonus or just a pat on the back from Mr Farnce for spinning out Richard Brooks in the last 'wing' car.

Actor Darren McGavin who can be seen and is mentioned in this film played in the same year Lee Petty in the movie "43 - The Richard Petty Story" which can also be seen on KZbin. Guess who played Richard in that movie? The King Himself!

I remember hearing that arie luyendyk intended to put his car into the field with his son at 210 mph . Curb and 2 small sponsors came together to arie and arie got a little fight inside himself to at least try to give his son a chance. He qualified in at a 215 average. But it came to light that arie didn’t want to take wing out so his son can go faster. The intent was so be the 33rd car in the field, do 10-20 laps in the race. Beat the cars that have early problems in the race and then park it. Basically a start and park effort. So foyt brought out a 3rd car and contacted giaffone. Arie wanted the prize money and was hoping to have enough money to start and park at 2 other ovals later in the season. It backfired. Sure his son got in the next season for the 500 but…. To think arie didn’t want to give his son a real chance and give him a real shot with a rear wing trimmed out all the way.. maybe giaffone would have gotten bumped. We will never know
