In my late 20's i was a rodman, lathe scriber, BLM cap finder, rebar pounder and driver. I walked all over Arizona in 100 degree heat, rain showers, snowfall, fog and wind. Ive seen amazing sunsets, beautiful landscapes and some of the most unforgettable moments of pure awe of just adoring the outdoors. It was a job that is hard to explain, cause it wasnt about posting corners, grading roads, or setting layouts for construction...it was something im glad to have done in my life. Dont miss pounding a starbit deep enough into that 1 ton rock so i could set that 14 inch rebar.

@@SmithSurveying before the real estate crash of '08. I worked out of Snowflake, went as far as Whittier Cali., south as far as Stafford, East to Albuquerque, north to the gravel mines of Las Vegas. After the market crashed I had to move on, I do miss working outside and am very glad I had that opportunity. If anyone is considering this work, I highly suggest you do. No one remembers that perfect time the grey carpet laid just right, or when the toner was crisp... but I hope I never forget watching the sun set on an ocean through the light rain as I sat atop a grassy hill, or the fog lifting just in time to see the sun plume through the dense clouds as snow gently fell and looking across nothing but red earth as I stood on a tall mound of sandstone looking north wondering if a mile trek in 100 degree heat was worth it.

Good video, I did a lot of seismic surveying out west setting out source points, and receiver points, Absolutely loved it. I got to do one heli-portable job in Parachute,Colorado in some of the gnarliest mountains in North America I believe. It was some of the scariest days of my life, but also some of the best days I’ve ever had something about pushing yourself to do things that’s out of your comfort zone is so rewarding. Also worked in Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and also in the north east part of the country When I finally moved back home, I got a job doing conventional surveying and started to really understand, surveying a lot more.

I noticed the section monuments located with GPS had pine trees close. In NC my GPS lacks accuracy when pine trees are close. It never was a concern to the surveyor in the video? Why?

Also no bipod with opus readings? What’s the epoch count for these shots? A little confused, is he saying the base was established using OPUS or all current corners being shot? Remember I’m a NC/S FLA surveyor so what seems obvious in your territory isn’t here

What does nature do when any one thing is in over abundance? Disease, pestilence, plague, and famine And when it comes to forests it ends in fires thus no one wins not us not the critters and not the health of trees

Hey, I am looking into taking some surveying classes in KY. I have an environmental science degree with a focus area in GIS so I believe some of these classes will cross over, but my question is what is the job market like? I love being in the outdoors so I know this will be a great fit for me, but worried about finding a job after taking these classes. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. You work in some beautiful places.

How would you prove robot has consciousness using empirical data. How do you prove to blind man what color red is using empirical data. In theory, robot can be programmed to move its hand when it touches hot surface. How do I know its having the experience of hot using test tube(Deduction/induction). The only thing i am certain of is that i have experience of hot. This experience can only come from entity that can already experience existence (Allah-one/indivisible/self-sufficient/unique/All-Loving infinite perfection). If you cannot prove your own consciousness using “scientific method”, then how can you reject the existence of Perfect/infinite metaphysical being(Allah)? “Cogito ergo sum”( I think therefore I am) should be read as “cogito ergo est”(I think therefore Allah is).
