Have watched this scene many times, but just now realized I never commented on it. This is the scene that rips my heart out. This is the scene that kills me. This is the scene I don't want to see. This is perhaps the worst and best scene in the whole series.

I think Richard Rankin is just brilliant in the part. When I read the books I visualise him as Roger.

Whoops! 1:08 the use of "okay" by a Scot in the 1700's would be ahistorical. Edit: I watched again with subtitles turned on. It turns out she says "I ken", not "OK".

Book Roger is my favourite character, sadly in the series they have weakened him substantially, I do really likeRichard Rankin though he depicts Roger as well as he can given the scripts he has, but sadly not as in the books, there he is stronger, protective and although he has to adapt to the 18C he does way quicker in the books 💕

The truth nobody want to hear is that this story is written by Claire from her perspective. Laoghaire was not the other women Claire was. They where in love but could not be together because of Jamies calling. This is why his sister don’t like Claire. Claire makes up these story about Laoghaire because she can’t bear her man being in love with someone else. The truth is she was gone for 20 years. His life was with Laoghaire these children are his. His destiny lies with Claire because of the calling to save Scotland, this calling is something Laoghaire stands for as well. Her life is very tough. Jamie lies for Claire because he needs her and can’t tell her the truth.

I don't get why Gellis turned evil. Did she really change that much in 20 years or was she always an evil person pretending to be good?

The way Jenny treats Jamie i'm assuming she's the older sibling. If she's the younger sibling treating him this way then that's sad.

That's right they didn't have pictures until the 1800's so it explains why he reacted that way. He's lucky Claire wasn't from the 2010's. If she showed him a video from her cellphone that would have freaked him out more. I would be scared to show anyone in that Era my smartphone because they might think I'm a witch( or whatever a male equivalent of a witch is) and try to burn me. One thing I would bring with me are modern guns. Find it odd out of 3 time travelers nobody bought modern guns with them. Would definitely gave Claire and Jaime and advantage in that gun fight they had at thier house since guns back then took a long time to reload. Probably why Jamie had so many guns.

Its a shame that Laoghaire confused possession and lust with love. She never really loved Jamie, she just developed a childish obsession with him. She was immature and never developed enough to have any real understanding of what true love really is

I don’t care if this is a realistic scene or not. The music. Jamie giving Claire his breath. Dropping the dirk as if it’s nothing. All of it. Exquisite. I’ve watched it over and over because it is just that beautiful.

This part always gets me 0:34. He's lived 20 years with only the hope that they are alright without even the comfort of knowing his child's name. The way he exhales like he can finally breathe now that he knows her name. Let some of that pain go.

William as a child looked NOTHING like Jamie. He may have been cute in his own right but did not resemble Jamie. I felt it was a kind of theatrical gaslighting to keep telling the audience that the child was such a splitting image of his father that Jamie had to leave his service. Yet the child actor chosen looked absolutely NOTHING like Jamie. Everything about his face was different. Jamie has very refined features, whereas the child had a broad nose and seemed incapable of having a smile. This was a very peculiar choice of child actor unless there just aren't many child actors in the UK.
