I bought the Kindle Scribe and in less than a month, returned it. I didn't like it at all. Yes, to write, the feeling is great, and very functional, but it is way too heavy to use it as an ereader. Your hands will ache after a few minutes of holding it. Now I am getting the Kobo Libra Colour instead.

I love the whole Boox concept but I have major trust issues about the device. The privacy is not really solid as per the tech community. If I were you, I would keep my Remarkable especially since writing can be a personal thing. I don’t want my data to be misused and be exploited in the wrong hands.

Hi! A lot of people comment about how plastic it feels, but if you look into it thats what amazing about it. It's made of 100% recycled plastic and 10% of that is made from plastic that washes up on the beach. So it's proudly plastic :) I allways have my kobo in a case and even have a screen protector. It's 11 years old now and still look great... which is frustrating because I would love the new colour one;) Thanks for a great video...😀

I have a Hemingwrite that I love. But I noticed recently just how much my editing brain turns on when I see a mistyped word. My eyes travel up the screen and I feel my creative brain turn off. I just bought the Alpha, as nothing in your video or from what I've seen in reviews turned me off from the device. The screen is intentionally small to make editing impossible, so that hopefully you can stay in the writing flow state instead of questioning everything you've ever written (which is where my mind goes once that editing side kicks on). I bought a customized Alpha Neo (painted a nice, light gray) this year during Nanowrimo, even though I already had one in its original color, because while the Neos are great machines, they aren't very pleasing to the eye. That Neo2 logo beneath the screen drives me nuts (I know, that's a weird me problem). I bought it because so many people had been complaining about the Alpha initially. But after enough research and a firmware update from Astrohaus, I think a lot of people are really enjoying the device as well. I think for a drafting device that is meant to discourage editing and is easily transportable, the Alpha hits the mark. I think it will be more comfortable as a lap device than the Neos, too. Over time, I've come to realize that the Neos aren't comfortable for me to type on unless I'm sitting at a desk, and since my day job requires me to sit at a desk for 9 hours, writing at one has quickly lost its appeal. Of course I still have to actually use the Alpha, but after my experience with losing focus on the Hemingwrite at times, and very often when I'm writing on my laptop, I'm really excited to try drafting on a screen that doesn't allow me to get lost in the weeds of editing.

How could you grow up poor? According to the leftist narrative, whites can't be poor because they have privilege. Good review buy the way.

Excellent comparison. I owned quite a few Neos. I loved them. When a thought came to me, I just took mine out at the moment and began writing. They eventually all broke down. They were all old and refurbished machines. When Freewrite Alpha came out, I was initially excited. However, on Freewrite’s videos, I noticed what you pointed out in your review, and did not buy one. My wife surprised me and gifted me a Traveler a couple of years ago. It’s all right but, to put it nicely, it’s no Neo. It’s hard to be spontaneous with it. Again, thank you for a great comparative review.

Keep in mind that those of us who are listening to your video while doing something else (washing the dishes in my case) have difficulty following your dialogue when you refer to devices as "little guy" and "big guy".

can you side load PDFs? for those of us who don't know kobo, where do you get books and can you access any of your amazon books?
@WritersLike

Kobo has its own proprietary retail storefront just like Amazon or B&N. You can buy books from within the device, the app, or through their web site, or check them out from library if the library you have attached to your device has the book in their catalog. Sideloading is easy - there's a desktop sync option (help.kobo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017478174-Sync-your-Kobo-eReader-with-Kobo-Desktop), or you can connect your google drive or dropbox to the device and import things that way. BUT ya can't get your Kindle books on Kobo. That's true for every single reading device that isn't a Kindle, unless you break the DRM (digital rights management) through some hack, a thing I've never bothered with but lots of people do.

Since this is a tech video, your face isn't important to me. In fact unless you are doing a makeup tutorial or cosmetic product review the face isn't necessary.

Hi, I like your review about the Libra Colour. You very directly told us the things about it which not every reviewer would do so. And feel free to show yourself; I don’t have any opinion against it as long as the content is good.😊

Watching for your insights, so you do whatever you feel is right for you, re face or not. I have a Kobo Libra Colour also and I have the same feeling about the stylus feel, particularly compared to Boox, Scribe or Nomad. It works but gives no joy!

I think your videos are great without your face but whenever I see a KZbinrs face that I follow regularly...they become more like a friend. It would help you with building an emotional relationship or attachment from your fans. But your videos are amusing and provide value without it. I would say that whether you show your face or not maybe needs to be determined by your goals for your channel.

Don’t feel pressured to show your face. Showing and moving around the product is what I personally want to see in a tech review. It’s frustrating when many tech reviews are showing mostly their face as they talk or these fancy cool shots. I like more raw unedited reviews where someone is using the product naturally as if I’d be using it and seeing what those angles look like.

I really enjoy your videos. I also agree with you that Amazon is taking over more and more and that the Kobo integration with Overdrive is phenomenal. One thing you might not be aware of is that, although not integrated, the Libby app does allow you to send borrowed books to Kindle in the US. As for showing your face on camera, I think it is completely your choice. I think the content is the most important thing. Just my two cents.

If you do decide to show your face, you can always make it a one-off. Your current format is fine though, since you are primarily demonstrating hardware. I think most people are just looking to match a face to the voice, versus advocating for a permanent format change.

I purchased a Boox Note Air 2+ to _'complement'_ my Supernote A5X, as the Supernote doesn't have a decent browser. I really don't like the hard screen of the Boox and have toyed with the idea of swapping the screen protector with Supernote's Feelwrite 2 protector which would also allow me to use my Heart of Metal pen with it, but then I'll never really use the Boox for note taking as the Supernote's software is way superior for my use case. I wonder if any Boox users have attempted to replace their screen protector with Supernote's Feelwrite 2? kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5q5kJ-CnLyMe6s

Thanks for the video. It's too bad you're thinking about getting rid of the A6X2. I would say the syncing is getting way better with the new desktop and Android beta. My syncing been the Nomad and my A5X has been really good, if anything, I get a conflict but don't lose the data. Also, with sideloading, you can get the reading apps. No color and the light seem important to you though so makes perfect sense.

Ohh yah, if you're coming from Apple, it makes sense why this would be a big difference. Nowadays Android and Apple steal/copy ideas from each other so gradually they're becoming more and more alike, but there are definitely internal things that are very different between the two. I actually have an iPad mini and an Android phone. I use the iPad as my media device and my phone for everything else. I wanted something smaller that wouldn't weigh down my purse, which is why I impulse bought this e-reader. I can't wait to try it out!
