Check out Sergey Tanin's version. That's very convincing as well.

Very happy that the master and the student (or rather now, 2 masters) are continuing to collaborate - they are powerful together and their continuing camaraderie is heartwarming

The pianist's stillness is so right for this most poetic of Beethoven's piano concertos. No wonder the audience applauded at the end of the first movement. There is a searching order to this work from the moment the orchestra first enter with that unexpected B major. Sublime.

I appreciate that channels like this need financial support, but there were 3 ads during just the first movement. That's overkill. The advertisers are too stupid to understand that they're creating hostity.

Natürlich wird in Rom italienisch gesprochen - was sonst ?

I saw these two in 2019 at 92nd Street Y and they were wonderful (in spite of the iffy acoustics there . . .) This season, I saw Goerne with Kissin at Carnegie Hall and it was splendid. So many gifted performers we have!

This Concerto is full of enrapturing Surprises . Wath a changing of so different feelings and emotions. And the Music flows beautyfully between Solists and Orchestra. And there is this magic Beauty, when the Cello starts the Adagio, joined by the Piano. The last part like a graceful Dance ! And the Encore the Cherry on the Top ! Thanks for this Beauty ! 💐💐💐 I must sai, the fast changing of Pictures on the Video is distracting from the Music, and to see Daniil non stop bowing reminds me constantly my own backache. Better listen with closed Eyes !😊

Here's your opportunity to hear Daniil perform Shostakovich's piano concertos and chamber works. In May 2025, he reunites the Gewandhausorchester and Maestro Andris Nelsons to inaugurate the first-ever Shostakovich Festival Leipzig to mark the 50th anniversary of the death of the great Russian composer. He also performs Shostakovich's various chamber works with outstanding musicians such as Gautier Capuçon, Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, Baiba Skride, and Antoine Tamestit. You can find detailed information about the festival here: www.gewandhausorchester.de/en/shostakovich/
