Ian Stewart played this, his style is very distinctive to it. When I first heard the song I was hooked by those notes.

My dearest Freddie's voice is stardust, and the piano's glow is the shining caress of His fingers. I feel His soul in this piano work and it is not mine to hold back the tears of emotion with which I give Him my love 🎶❤️

I swear I never heard 'thrill' correctly. It sounded like 'cream' with background music... vocals alone allow me to hear it correctly.

4:45 I can't help but wonder how many tries it took to get that part right. (It sounds like Freddie was exhausted just as the recording cuts off, when he's about to use some of those well-known strong words) 😮💨😄

🎉 To Sir Elton John, This is such a brilliant move. You are taking us home to musician ship. Please give the future a reason to sit at a piano, pick up a bow, blow a horn. If there is no electricity there will only be birds singing. Thank you

Mickey Gallagher elevated the clash sound with his piano and organ playing on London calling and sandinista. The B52S added a saxophone and trumpet player to their band they were cool. 1979 to 1983 was a great era for music concerts.

i always thought the original recording of Free bird - with the organ track - sounded like such a dirge. When i first heard the live version (Knebworth video I think) it was a revelation - the piano makes such a difference - it turns it into a celebratory song. It is a joy to listen to this for the first time as a pure piano track

This sounds like a demo where Elton is composing the melody and chord sequences so that Davey can flesh it out on guitar.

Billy Powell started out as a Roadie for Skynyrd, one day Ronnie heard him playing Firebird on the piano ( the song was originally recorded on an earlier album without the piano, and Ronnie didn't know that Billy was classically trained on the piano, after he heard him playing, he's like " shit man we got to have this guy"

Absolutely phenomenal! That just took me back to the early 80's and literally gave me goosebumps. However, the bongos in the middle kid of ruined it. Still, a good piece.

I don’t understand how Paul didn’t get any writing ( royalties) credit! Don had a great song that wasn’t coming together. In walks Paul and… there you go! As a musician, how can you not (financially) credit someone who tied your song together in a way you didn’t think of? So many artists should be embarrassed that session players that brought their music to life with their own inspiration, didn’t receive financial windfall. I know that’s how it was for session players but man it wasn’t right
